I feel as though the definition of the ultimate bobcat dog would go something like this: a dog that's better at catching bobcats then everyone else's.

I kind of see what you're saying sass and I kind of don't. To speak to your Shepard bulldog example, I realize that you can't just cross the two and hope for the best. That'll most likely will not work. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if you increase the area in which you're willing to look you will increase the likelihood of finding the dog that you want. So for instants, to your shepherd bulldog cross to increase intelligence I guess if it was me I would look for a dog that had similar traits as mine plus a higher intelligence. So that way I wouldn't dilute my own stock and I would add to it. Now a dog that is that good plus some is going to be hard to find. Even harder to find if I limit myself to a small portion of the whole dog population. Of course I'm probably wrong I do not know the first thing about breeding dogs and I have very limited experience with even owning dogs. It's just my analytical side crunching the numbers. I do however get exactly what you're saying.

Mr Eberle why everything with you toward me has to be in a negative tone I do not know. I answered your questions now could you answer mine in an intelligent form. Andy, to answer your question on a definition of Ultimate Bobcat Dog is according to Dan, I'd refer you to the original post on this thread. He states pretty clearly his goal. I think it is a pretty good description. I have zero interest personally in spending the hours or money and headaches Dan is going thru doing this. I do however think any dog guy could learn something here. Whether or not it'd be of any use to us is immaterial. I like learning, especially if I spend my time on anything. I hope Dan keeps going on his project and keeps us up on it.

If this project was on the stock exchange, ask yourself how shares you would buy. Be honest!!!!!!

Let's not forget there are many very successful companies who aren't public and for sale in the stock exchange too.

Ok boys now that everyone has spoke their peace. How bout we let Dan get back to either wasting his time and money, or creating the ultimate bobcat dog. Either way it’s a interesting read:) no matter your stance on the subject it’s stirred some sort of intrest in every person commenting! I mean in my experience with the sport of hunting, hound guys are by far the most opinionated hard headed folks so let’s just agree to disagree. Remember we all do this because we love to watch good dogs hunt, i have never met someone who got filthy rich off this sport, it’s usually the other way around:) Good luck Dan!
