Jack,

I will send for the book, and sure glad to hear your getting along and doing good. I still have a little of that old blood that you brought up there, and the greatest hound I have ever owned or ever even witnessed Big John had Lay breeding behind him. TGhe real deal!

Hopeyou hang around with us a bit and share some stories , wisdom and wit. Lord knows in these days we need it.

My best,
Mike

Thanks Jack, did you only get hounds from the Lees then, or did any come from other houndsmen?

We traded with a number of hunters, we never kept track of the breeing then, only if it did the job the way we liked, and had a great voice. Thanks for your interst Jack

I cant remember all the guys that I got pups or bred with. The one I liked the best I got it from John Strocka near Sumas Wa. about 1959. If he needed a hound I gave him one in return, no money just good will. Sorry I cant give you the records back fifty years but that's the way it is. Jack

Did you know Jimmy Dewar? I think some of the hounds he had came from the southwest US as well.

Jack,
Glad to have you on this website. I think the world of your son, his wife and kids. I would really like to meet you some day as well. I have been hunting dogs that came from them for approx. 15 years now. I have two dogs here now. One old female thats deaf as they get, but she will spend her days here at the house, and I have one red male that is a littermate to a couple of the dogs Dan and Kyle are hunting now. I someday would like a complete pack of this blood, but we will see if that ever happens. I am going to send you a $20 as well. I would really like to read your book. Again glad you are here and hope to hear some stories from your hunting past.

Yes Mike, I worked with Jim from time to time. Most of his hounds came from the Lees, he use to go down and hunt for a week or two with the hounds before bringing them home. I was the only Gov. hunter that had his own hounds, but I had lots of pups from Lee stock. Ha Ha Jack
