Unfortunately total extermination is not a realistic option. USFWS is not going to allow that and if a state doesn't implement approved management plans no management will be allowed. Realistically, responsible management will be tough to achieve, but F&G Depts in affected states are becoming more proactive as hunting license dollars are dropping off. The money trail determines everything in politics. Whether we like it or not, piglet was correct, wolves are all about politics.

Like other movements that oppose policies that are in place, we as sporstman must do all we can to educate and campaign against the "wolf" agenda. There is much more to this than meets the eye. Once wolves have been firmly established in all of the west, hunters are no longer needed. It is already too late in many places and if you don't have them, hide and watch, they are coming. The more people that understand what is going on, the better.

I hate to hear that about your dog..I lost a dog on the Yaak River below the area you got hit in (Spread Creek). I hope you reported the incident. We need the for the fish cops to be aware of every occurance. I hadn't heard a thing about your deal..that is terrible, and I sure know how it feels.

Mike , I hope your Penny dog makes it...a terrible thing for sure... no dog deserves to go out like that.

It dosen't seem to matter if you report it or not.Last spring I had one of my dogs killed on sutton creek in north lincoln county right after it happend I reported it to our biologist Tim Thier and found out months later that the head wolf guy never heard anything of it.

The sad reality of this is that none of these attacks on livestock or Pets make national news. Oh if a person gets attacked it does, but it’s always followed up with how rare these encounters are as well as the odds. The people that don’t have to live with them see the majestic value of them. Teddy Roosevelt when setting Yellow Stone aside for a national park did not think that the wolf should be kept around for aesthetic reasons. I am sure he is rolling over in his grave. I am truly sorry for the events that took place on that day.

I remember the day that third picture was taken. We cut the tom at daylight and caught it in about a half an hour. Mike cimbed quite a ways to the tree and I sat on my sled and ate some fritos. The female was a different story. We ran here around in the rocks above Koocanusa for about two hours before we caught her in a culvert. We sent Riggs in one end and Penney in the other. The cat some how squirted over the top of Riggs and out the down hill side only to run circles in the rocks for another hour. Finally it treed right below the road. I was sitting on my sled eating fritos when I heard it "scratching bark" about thirty yards away. We had seen this cat cross the road about three times and when we finally caught it with the "B team" we decided to let it go. We ran the rest of the road out and could not find another tomcat so we went back and started the snakey cat track from the tree. It climbed way up the mountain and Mike climbed up and whacked it while I sat on my sled and ate fritos.
This day these two youngsters became the B plus team. Penney has shown several young dogs a lot of bobcats since that day a couple seasons back.

Penny is back home. We are hoping to keep the infection under control. She is on four different antibiotics.

exactly. antis can post all the bad pictures they want about our hounds so you should be able to make the uneducated public that may be on the fence about wolves aware of what these wolves do to our pets and hunting companions.
