Up in Maine the bigger bears 300 lb + much prefer to Bay up .
Those 125 lb Swamp runners will keep you busy all day . Prefer NOT to put out on them .
I do have to agree with 1whitedog ,We have some thick stuff up here but I have been on 2 hunts in Eastern Nc.where 5-10 yards is a good distance for line of sight . It certainly makes it a young mans chase . The older I get I much prefer a bigger ESCAPE ROUTE .I've been Bowled over twice by bear once in Maine ,once in N.C. Nothing like getting hit by a 400 lb linebacker when you get Blindsided !!!

I hear you, I got run over and bit last year by a good sized bear. It sounded like he was treed, the garmin said he was treed so I wasnt paying as close attention as I should have been when going in to the tree. It was really thick brush so I didnt see him coming till it was to late, next thing I know I am on the ground bitten, luckily my dogs were all over his ass, so he treed right there.

Thats for sure! I use more caution now when going in on a tree or bay up, especialy in thick brushy areas. Dont really want a repeat of that, but I do have a cool story and scars to share arround hunt camp now. LOL. :beer
