Since terrain and hunting styles vary, there is no one best sled for hound hunting. If you want to confine yourself to the groomed trails, air cooled or shorter tracked sleds may do you well. But if you have to bust your own trail through deep powder and steep country to get to an area you want to hunt, you're going to need the extra traction and horse power of a powder sled to get you there around here.

I wouldn't own anything less than a 151" track for the way I hunt. I also wouldn't consider strapping a dog box to my sled, too awkward and top heavy if you have to sidehill. I also don't like to be weighed down by big heavy detachable pull behind dog sleds that can carry 4 to 6 dogs that I see some guys using, they are just too difficult to pull where I need to go even with a powder sled.

Nah, give me a long tracked high performance powder sled with a light, detachable 2 dog sled, and I'll show you some cats.

You know rigit, I suspect I was dragging around a box full of hounds in these hills when you were still dragging around a diaper full of shit!

One thing that we have found is the liquid cooled machines can a bit of a liability when the snow starts going, you end up running some dry patches between what is left or we get a winter rain and then you are running ice. The machines can over heat and it seems the fan cooled 440-550's seem to be a little more suited for longterm survivability of the motor. Happy hunting, Casey
