Isn't it true that the only trapping in California is box-trapping?

Re: There is no snort to it!!!!
I too am so glad to see where this post got to and I want to say thank you to all. I was once a guy that didnt like bow hunting thought they shot to many deer and let them run off and die never to be found. Till I tryed it and loved it and spent many hours walking after blood trails to find my first deer and my first pig. And after talking with other bow hunters found out that most do just the same and find there game even if it takes all night and most of the next day.
I wish more sportsmen would walk a mile or two in the other man shoes for some time and see what its really like. Who knows maybe we all would fight eachother a little less and the antis a little more.
And Liz from what I have been hearing looks like bobcat prices will be down some this yr so that should help a little with a few of the unethical trappers.

Yes all we can fur trap with is cage traps. If your doing adc work and it falls under agriculture and meets other laws you can use snares and conibear traps but the guys that do that cant keep the fur or any part of it.

Twist,
I didn't mean to single you out, my post was aimed more towards another member. I was trying to say there are ways to work together and it goes both ways, it just didn't come out that way. My bad.
Everyone should check out my post about Ron Paul in the big game hunting with hounds section.
Happy hunting

Twist, i think you contribute good advice and are a solid person and probably a great guy and houndsmen but it does drive me a little crazy to see your topper again banner thingy every time you post. Don't you have a whole thread that you keep up with topper again stuff, isn't that enough. Don't mean to cause hard feelings just doing a little venting myself.
Maybe I am wrong but I thought this site was for houndsmen to get advice as well as share it, and also trade and sell stock to other houndsmen. I don't think there is a thing wrong with advertising your stock on posts. Your a houndsmen, those are your hounds, and this is BIG GAME HOUNDSMEN. Makes sense to me. There's my venting.

Beardogger, why would you decide to throw a grenade into this post? I’m sure you are so bobcat savvy you would be able to sex out a cat from high on a limb? You know how many hound rigs, I have seen with sow bears (barely legal from falling into the cub class) parading it proudly down the highway. Having this tiny bear tied down in full view for everyone to see on top of their dog box. When you say you hate trappers on a public hunting forum is just foolish. If you disagree with their methods of take keep it to yourself. Trappers are hound hunters allies (not enemies). Your post was out of pure jealously because some trapper is being successful and not being very selective in his take. The truth is you want all the cats for yourself. Some of the best houndsmen that ever hit the woods were also trappers. Men like Homer Pickens, Willy Carroll, Willis Butolph and the list goes on. You probably won’t know that because you have only had hounds for a year or two.
Whoever runs this site please delete my account! This site has nothing more than a bunch of beginner hound owners (I won’t use the term houndsmen) because most on here are just wannabes that haven’t owned hounds for more than a year or two. For the few real houndsmen on here, my hats off to you for putting up with all these new generation, computer hunting, wantabe, disrespectful, know it all in a year hound owners. This is exactly why hound hunting is a dying breed.

Re: There is no snort to it!!!!
I personally don't like snares, but I deal with them because trapping is part of what made the west. I have seen hounds lost to them time and time again along with other critters. But its part of the west. Just like hound hunting mining logging and all the other reasons people ventured here in the first place. If we stand for one we need to stand beside the other is the way I feel.

I agree 100% and then some its sure pisses me off to see how after a few pages someone can worm there way out of what they originally posted even to the point he edited his post and deleted what he said because he was embarrass about what the results he was getting as well as the guy directly under him that posted his hatter stuff as well. Then comes on several posts later and thanks some people for being nice about there comments. I dont agree with anyone bashing hunting with hounds or bashing trappers matter of fact there is even a trapper section on this site. Both hounds and trapping have been in my family since the late 1800's. You know come to think of it Whoever runs this site DELETE my account too I dont want to be any part of a site that allows some jack A.. to come on here and post negitive things about a heritage that is so important to me. I think this is complete horse S... i will never come back on here again to listen to some yellowbelly to squirm his way around after he gets in a pinch. I enjoyed reading some of the stories that a few of the real houndsmen and pics they shared and i mean to tell you its very few that from what i can tell.To you real houndsmen hats off to you guys going to miss your stories and pics. I totaly commend you fellas that can stick around and listen to this crap of some one bashing our family heritages. GOOD BYE!!!!!!

See you later fellas. I have a dollar that says it is neither one of your guys last visit to the forum. People are entitled to their opinion whether you agree with it or not. If you don't like that then leave. The reason our sport is going away is because 90% of hound guys are incapable of rational conversation. It is hard to rally the troops when they are so quick to spit on one another. I can tell from the posts on this topic that Twist isn't the only one that doesn't approve of traps or snares that indiscriminately kill. Just because he is a houndsmen doesn't mean he has to agree with every aspect of trapping. That is silly. He never said he wants to ban trapping.
And by the way, I can with almost 100% accuracy, tell you if a bobcat is a kitten or a female even from way up on the limb.

I know trappers and houndsmen are one in the same and need to help eachother out but when you put high prices on a fur you are almost always going to have conflict when that kind of money is involved. You guys should stick around a little. this disagreement is kindergarten talk compared to some threads. Go to twatter or assbook i guess.
just so you know, the dog in my signature is neutered so don't bash me for haveing him my signature. i like the dog and thought it was a good picture.
