Nope, I have had it everywhere. It doesnt have mattracks. I have Camoplast Tatou 4s, they will go!

If you have never gotten stuck, then you are not tying to take your machine into the same country and on the same trails I routinely hunt on my powder sled. The amount of cat country available to hunt in our area is limited only to where your snow machine can take you......and if you ain't pushing, you ain't trying. See you back at the truck.

I own the following:

Skidoo skandic 500 wide track. A skidoo back country 550 fan cooled, and a Grizzly 700 with Tatou 4s tracks. I use them all depending on the season. Anyone that says a Griz with tracks will out go a sled is nuts. Maybe if it is the old elans, bravos or tundra 300's, otherwise a sled will out perform a Griz with tracks any day in most snow conditions IMO. Sleds are faster, get better milage, are more comfortable and warmer to ride, go uphill better...etc. That being said, I still use my Griz a lot. It has a place. In the spring when there are stretches of roads with no snow and drifts both, the Griz works great. I prefer running roads with my skidoo backcountry. I prefer pulling dogs with my skandic, and I prefer my Griz with tracks in March/April.

Also you can buy a couple of pretty nice sleds for what you are going to have into a 4wheeler and tracks.

As for getting stuck, I dont care if you drive a tank, hovercraft or submarine...you hunt much off the roads, you are gonna get stuck!!!

I'll throw my two cents in here....

I don't own a sled. I hunt with guys who run them when we go hunting together. I run my Honda Rubicon with 4s tracks. Some days they have the right tool for the job, some days I do. They have a speed advantage as well as fuel consumption. I have a maneuverability and cargo carrying advantage. So far I have pulled sleds home and they haven't had to pull me home, however they have had to make a fuel run for me. Neither of us have been "stuck", as in had to wait for Spring to get out. That's stuck. If I had the money, I'd follow Cody's lead and get both. For now though, I'm glad I invested in tracks first. They will run in all seasons as opposed to just good snow. I may not be the first across the finish line, but I will make it....eventually.

ive ran both for a good number of years i tend to use my tundra 66 ace way more than my track machine. with the tracks i cant go 60 miles and im out of gas. ive brokee axels, tie rods and had track bearings go out on a regulare basis . i use my machines dayly and put a ton of miles on them in all conditions.glad i have both tools, but i lean heavy toward a good sled as i can cover more ground on way less fuel

anyone wanting to get rid of their mattracks, need set for can-am commander,

I find myself in the same position----Going to buy a sled (never had one) wanting to run dogs for cats and run a trap line in the bighorns.

Need all the info pro's and con's on sleds only....Best !!!!!

The VK is a Yamaha Viking similar to a Skandic, but you areent going to get much of a sled for a grand. I like the old Phazers. They are cheap and light and durable.

I have been running a Polaris sportsman with tracks for a few years and will never go back to a snow machine. yes I am the slowest and use more fuel but when on steep curvy mountain roads the sleds just cant do it unless they are going 80 mph the whole time. I have also driven A ranger and rzr with tracks and they do go in a couple feet of snow as soon as it is deep enough to high center them they are done. I have been stuck in my machine but the snow was 6 feet deep. serious. But having the winch on the front and reverse it is always easy to get out. I bought my tracks when I was just tired of digging the sleds out. If you have a partner with ATV and tracks to help you get through the 10 foot snow drifts on top I believe your pretty unstoppable. And you can carry way more gear and dogs on your ATV.

picked up a citation,, wicked llight and goes anywhere.. buddy out a arctic cat under carrage and track under one, made it a long track and really goes any where, see how it goes this winter then I may do that.
