Any dog that doesn't move out on a track won't catch anything.
Both dogs that i owned that did that caught lots of cat, they weren't known for standing around. They had the type of noses that would strike behind other cat hunters good dogs but they didn't jump them all.
I realize a lot of guys don't want to mess with those old bad tracks and that's their choice.
Another thing to remember is nose and tracking ability are 2 separate things .

Most of us that have hunted for a few years have seen dogs that could smell a track many, many hours old but couldn't do anything with it. I do call them cold nosed but they sure aren't track dogs. Then there are cold nose hounds that can literally run a bad track. My ole Hunter dog was one of them. He's the one that licked on a old track occasionally.Man he could move out.
If you have lots of game you don't really need a dog with lots of nose but if game is scarce or there's lots of hunting pressure those same dogs sure come in handy for catching cats.
A good hound that can tree or catch cats consistently is hard to beat no matter if he's big, little or somewhere in between!

Need to find best barn we can find, but with the best female we can find which I think the female is 80 to 90 % of the pups.
