I am an old lady and hunt in mountains. Whenever I'm trying a new spot, I like to start before sunset or just after dawn so I can get a feel for the land and not get lost. In my experience, the coons here are out any time the shadows are long. There's a good chance they'll be out for a couple of hours before sunset in a river bottom that doesn't get full sun.
