Re: heres one for all you to droole over
We are always chasing those little runners it seems like. Some big ones we can get to tree better but some of those have been ran so damn much that they just walk along with the dogs nipping at their heels. They usually take a break and then they'll start running again. Great bear Ryan, or to whoever shot it, shooting them crossing the road isnt an easy task sometimes, and sometimes you have to do it! Again great bear!

Better go reread Buckinass, I never said word one about a breed of dog, that would be someone else putting it in there without any justification. You might have heard me before but you don't listen too good if bears are walking on you and sitting and resting

I don't really care what breed you hunt, but I would seriously think about running in a new set of dogs (whatever breed) if that is happening. It's ok, keep makin excuses for your dogs, the only one that it effects is you.
hahaha, just like getting a rise out of you, Good Luck Hunting! Now back to the bear, did you ever find out what the bear scored Ryan? Thats what I really want to know
Re: heres one for all you to droole over
Saying it's thick and nasty over there is the understatement of the decade. Not only is it thick, everything is covered with thorns, and seeing 10 yards is rare sometimes. A bear could drag an anchor in that crap and still give the dogs a bad time for hours.
$hit happens in the woods, and not everything goes as rehersed, bears don't like to follow the script all the time.
If I had been listening to my dogs pay the price for doing what I asked of them and couldn't get in on it, and got a decent opportunity to save them some more misery, I'd take it, even if it ran across the courthouse lawn.
Nice Bear.

I always get a kick out of opions that are based on NO REAL FACT experiences. The big and blacks in that part of the world are extremly tough and yes that's gauging them against 2 different packs owned by 2 different hunters who tree 80-120 bear every year not just once in awhile.Nice pics Ryan.

Hey Tim, who's catching 80 -120 bears a year in western Washington? They must have a ton of permits and hunt every day because by my count thats 20-30 bears a month assuming they have permits the whole time. For the record I was born and raised in western washington, I know about the brush.
Don't buy the hype.

It's guys who hunt permits in Wash.,state for Oregon and guide in Calif.all legal all accounted for.I wouldn't of posted it if I wouldn't have personally witnessed and know for a fact.I wasn't being confortational or bragging on these guys, but these dogs are tough and they ran some hard ones up there.

I thought you were talking about THAT part of the world. Not california or oregon. Also by saying that the comments were based on opinions with no real facts is confrontational. How does a guy personally witness 2 different guys with 2 different packs of dogs catch 80-120 bears a year and have any time to hunt himself, or work or anything else. By that number you'd have to spend 200 days a year hunting with them and catching a bear every single time out. I have no doubts about people catching a ton of bears but lets keep the facts straight. I agree that this is a nice bear, just wondering if I was the only one who didn't like shooting bears crossing the road. I guess so.
Ryan, I don't know you at all but how is some one who sold his dogs and lives in Washington worried about what people on the internet think about a bear he didn't have anything to do with killing? If you want to stop arguing maybe you should start in your own back yard where hound hunters are stabbing each other in the back every chance they get.
Don't buy the hype.

I agree there is nothing wrong with shooting bears crossing roads. It takes a lot of luck and or talent to figure out where a bear will cross at.
80 to 120 bears seems to be an awful stretch to me. Ray Jones shot 63 bears in one year in western WA. in the 50s a record which probably still stands today. Back then they shot every bear they treed, bayed, or crossed a road. They had dogs we can only dream of now.

I really don't care how they killed it or what it was doing, I think its a real nice bear and am stoked for the guy that killed it, he's gotta be counting the days to put that thing in the house. If I was after a slammer like that and that was the shot, I would have dumped it in a heartbeat.
Now... that said, I don't care about killing one really, and don't consider that a caught bear. I want my dogs to tree or bring it to bay and hold it, and I'm more interested in how my dogs are performing than dumping a bear, to each his own. so I see where Bearkiller is coming from and was waiting for someone to make his point.

Larry, unless permits have changed in the last few years, he can't keep it. They all go to a meat locker and fish and game auctions the hides. They have to kill every bear they catch so I understand why he killed it. Its the post humous bloviating that makes no sense.
