If we have learned one thing in this process is the antis are winning the fight they go to jail and act like bad guys the news is on there side they burn shit down blow shit up for there cause then dress in suits fake out politicians tell lies about what ever there cause is. We still look bad in the public eye what has happened to the country I grew up in, all we are talking about is going to the woods with a dog. Millions of people in CA. do that every year with no hunting license and don't no they are braking the law because there dogs don't have big floppy ears and a tracking collar. If we didn't no the law or have dog boxes, and drove subarus we would never be bugged talk about profiling we are being discriminated against plane and simple you can feel it in your gut cant you.

Mark,
I couldn't agree more. I can guarantee you if you have a dog box that's exposed and basically a rolling billboard for hound hunting you will be pulled over, if you cross the path of a CA. Warden.
Our biggest enemy in our own country is "White Middle Aged Far Left Liberals from the Big Cities!" Those are the ones trying to get us all locked into a caged city. Those are the ones after your freedom. Those are the ones after your guns. Those are the ones that want you to be put on a government list if you have special survival skills. Those are the ones that get bills like SB1221 started. Those are the ones that donate and are members of all these anti freedom groups. Those are the ones that come up with all these social programs that bankrupted this state. Those are the Barbra Boxer's, Dianne Feinstein's, and the Al Gores of America. Those are the ones that want to "go green". Those are the ones that want loggers, hunters, dirt bikers, jeepers, quad riders, gold miners, fisherman, trappers, etc... out of the woods. Those are the ones that rally to their voted into power liberal senators. Those are the ones that's never went outside of the concrete jungle. Those are the ones that call the cops on everything. Those are the ones into everyone else's business. Those are the ones that dont believe in Christianity. Those are the ones that make school's take field trips to Muslim Mosque's to force feed our children that its OK not to believe in Christ. Those are the ones that fight to have teachers teach how great of a marriage Paul and Steve have. Those are the ones that make laws that saluting our flag in schools is not allowed. How they should be able to adopt children, be in our military, because they have right's as Free Americans to live that kind of lifestyle, but we dont have the right to hunt our hounds!
Worst of all those are the ones that never miss a VOTE and get voted into positions of power to make laws.
Tell me this why would a so called Republican (Strickland) vote to support an anti hunting bill? Even "most" of California's Republicans are liberals! Sorry but I'm starting to get pissed off! I cant believe this bill has gone this far!

Time to wake up California, Oregon and Washington State
I have many people ask about the commitment of Odfw to sport hunters here in Oregon. Bottom line, there is none. just like the U.S. Forest Service who has become anti access to the very lands that belong to we the people. You think this is not accurate just look across Oregon with the new map system to find out which roads are open and which are now closed to public access...Slowly but surely we are losing our rights as Americans.Lets also evaluate the direction California is heading....Recent anti hunting legislation, Senate bill 1221 ....The context of this bill is to ban sport hunting with hounds for bear and bobcats....Cougar hunting was banned four decades ago and now USDA kills cougar funded by tax paying citizens with hounds and bears will be included for USDA staff also with hounds if passed. The same citizens who can't even travel to another state and hunt cougar and have them in there homes as mounted trophy's.....Laws prohibit the possession in home, tannery work on cougar commercially is prohibited. What they will not tell you is USDA has killed thousands of cougar since the ban in California.....Time to wake up!
Ronald Anglin, ODFW Head Administrator has admitted to me the reason he prefers snares and USDA over sport hunters....Simply put he claims sport hunters can't meet management objectives or kill enough bears. Without hounds or bait your odds are drastically reduced. Each year bears do an average of 11.5 million dollars worth of timber damage mainly in Western Oregon. How is this our problem? You and me the sport hunter? Timber like any other commodity is driven by private sector corporations, free markets... during record profits will the Corporation Weyerhaeuser (one of many examples) share those profits with Odfw? Maybe they do is the only logical reason for spending our money on Private Corporations.....Think about it! Will they share profits with you? No... Compare this to Government bailing out General Motors and ask if this is the role of Government? Odfw claims Timber producers pay for the snare service by the acre but will never open the books for a complete audit....Bottom line, we are being lied too. You have nothing to hide you open the books for full disclosure.
The reason I get on my rants with Mr. Ronald Anglin and Odfw is simple, sport hunters are a management tool for the Game Commission in every state not Government hunting funded by sport hunters. My position will change only when Odfw makes sport hunters a first priority. Why hasn't Odfw changed or adjusted Oregon bear seasons to run all year long? Why have a break between spring and fall season? why do we have to draw a select number of spring tags and have many people wanting tags and can't get one? Why not have a second spring tag for those driven hunters who would love the opportunity to take two spring bear and a fall bear but all in the same breath Odfw calls in the big guns USDA with bait and snares? Simply put the corporations don't want you or me stepping one foot on lands they own but clearly have no problem accepting General Motors style bailouts and the take of your hard earned dollars. How can killing Sow black bear and baby cubs over long term be proper management? Sport hunters must identify sex mandated by The Game Commission for good reasons, while snares catch all and USDA agents kill all.....
Here it is California, Oregon, Washington States......The choice is down to this, Government controlled hunting on the tax payers backs or privately funded hunting by sport hunters. Animals are going to be managed one way or another. California's radical activism towards sport hunting is living proof with USDA killing thousands of cougar, Do the math, three hundred cougar killed each year on average by USDA times the number of years banned 1972, now 40 years....Oregon is living proof with USDA and Odfw's partnership to bring down the population of cougar by 3000 animals from 6000 down to sustainable limits of 3000....Did I mention Odfw is land filling those cougar? That means shot over Government hounds paid by we the citizens and hauled to the dump!.......Bears snared are going to the butcher shop and being distributed to homeless shelters.....That is a great program but how about you? Has Odfw volunteered to pay for your butcher bill on game mammals you harvested? Remember this is how "your" license and tag fee money is being spent, never mind game conservation programs or wildlife enhancement programs, Out west we Hire the Government!..........Time to wake up and Check the facts!

Clint Berg brought up an old post...People....time to pay attention....Remember an old post about Galantine's millie dog? California's greatest dry ground, ground pounding extrodinary lion hound.....I remember getting flack about condemning the USDA program with USDA doing you cougar hunting in California....I simply asked how that was working out for all you hound hunters in California?.....Now roll the clock ahead one year and you are facing the same scenario with your bear hunting....How will this work out for you?
Here is another question.....How many of you are registered to vote? I bet 50 % of the California hound hunters are just like Oregon.....Will not register because my vote doesn't count.....Or.....Or.....

right on mike I could not agree more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
time for all hunting groups, sportsman, ranchers and anyone that even own's a pet to band together before HSUS takes way the right to even own a pet because somehow that is cruel in there opinion.
ODFW backs down to the anti groups all the time. it is a sad state of affairs here in Oregon and it is even worse for Califonia right now.

Believe me the bear numbers will be 10fold on the lion numbers to keep the states population in check. More lions are being killed through depridation than were being killed when there was a season. Basically the lack of a lion season = mismanagement and more lions being killed than before.

In 1989 the anti's got the CA Bear season shut down for that year. The number of complaints were overwhelming. There was Bears coming into towns everywhere, looking for food. Those big boars will sleep in a large feed patch and run off anything that tries to get his food.

Clint,
California is just like Oregon....Those numbers are skewed.....We are working on getting all the hard numbers for you guys....Hard for me to think those kill numbers are even close....I spoke to one Usda agent and he claims he alone killed 30 lions from July- June or one calender year....My stats are all skewed by our Fish Department.....The report claims only five cubs and one hundred seventy nine subs....Evidently in the management world, just like in people.....You can be a teen ager before being an infant child....My wife says she sees it all the time on her day time soaps.....
We really have some solid support here in Oregon with folks & legislators who have just had a gut full of being steam rolled over....I'm going to my "sand box" in B.C. to play and walking out the door....I will be back mid next month.....
Keep Fighting!!!!!!!!!!!! Just when you think you can do nothing more you will find out.....Persistance pays off....We own this country not special interest.....We the people, Your Fish Department should work for you....Ours don't and they will take a heavy toll for forgetting sport hunters pay the bills....
Take Care to all you guys in California.....This ain't right and I'm with you!
Mike

If this bill passes and any hound hunter that offers their hounds to help out on a depredation hunt should be tared and feathered!
I agree with you 100%. But look how it is now with the lions. You get a guy like the local one i have named VAN and he has helped take more than 6 lions out of one valley. He is running his dogs on game i will never run in California. To many people have the Me me attitude and will do anything to help themselfs but in fact they are helping kill the sport for everyone. Do i blame him, not really because if it isn't him someone else will be more than happy to volunteer.

I would like to know how many people will leave this state in their rear view mirror if this bill passes? Hound hunting is a life style as much as a sport. The hunters I know are not going to live their life in a state where they cant run their hounds.

The fish and game comission talked about 1221 they did not vote to be for or against, but one of the comissioners stated that hound hunting was disgusting and made him want to vomitt. They said that they didn't want to vote because they needed more time. There were two that wanted to vote to support 1221 and the others were unsure and would have voted to not support. Also i wish the comission would read their own policy because i did.
