Way to go cobalt,looks like that coon put up a nice fight, judging off the looks of that B&T's ear. Did the other dogs help catch that sucker too? the way there chewing looks like they sure would like to!!!


Rowdy, We only use leashes in hills when we are bear hunting,when were out at the swamp we never use them,unless we have to.With bikes its fun as hell,you just have to stay with them and use your voice more.The dogs learn to come out by us calling(most of the time!!)and then they trought along with us and our bikes.We either sic them into stuff or they'll take tracks out of the road.Its good roading practice too.We don't use tracking equipment either when were swamp huntin. When you start'em out there as pups its teaches them good handleing also.
But any way its and old stlye that was passed down to my buddies and I'm now prevlaged to learn and do it with them,as I'm now only going on my third year with them.But I've learned quiet a bit in those few years.

The bluetick(she looks like a B&T) and the terriers were the only dogs on it. It was a fluke catch. Just happened to be in the right spot at the right time. Parked on a dry canal to let them potty and that sucker was sleeping 40 ft. from where I parked. Sorry to step on your post with my pics. Couldn't help myself.

Ah heck cobalt you didn,t step on my post and fill free to post what ever you want to on here.no fluke, that coon had to smell and lay a track to were he was beded.dogs noses did the rest.Those are the best ones when your letting them clean out and then bam they lite up, then catch great sound!!!!!

Went for boat hunt today cuz the ground was so saturated riding a bike would have been poopy.Also we had female only day.A friend of mine who owns the boat,he has pup whos haveing her first heat So I brought my female and another buddy brought his and it turned out to be real fun day!!The puppy did great.This of course wasn't her first time but ya'll know the feeling of seeing a dog progress, if its yours or not.The three chicks did a hell of a job.They cought this thing on the waters edge in a hole that was half under water.The coon couldn't fit in hole all way so it ended up getting pulled out by one of the dogs and the water fight was on. We tried to throw it up on the bank and let it tree but the coon didn't want and dogs sure didn't either.All that coon wanted to do was swim across the slough and fight in water.At one point the coon jumped into the boat and dogs were fighting it right there on the deck!!!
Yep today was a blast.......

Do you let any of the coons you catch go? Any pics of the dogs on the tree? I like seeing the dog pics more than anything!

outstanding pictures, you really get it done. the way you hunt is very similar to myself, we got a ton of big ditches with patches of woods and briars on the sides and its easier to use a boat than wadin up to your neck! those coons sure can battle in the water huh. I've only got a beagle walker mix and in a fight with a big boar in the water, it's nasty. sure is intense. good huntin to ya, Jon McMillan.
