You didn't chap my butt at all, it was already chapped from hiking 30+ miles in 3 days of elk hunting  Thankfully my buddy was able to tag a respectable 340" bull with his bow.

Cougarhound... no apology needed, you have an opinion... you expressed it. AZGFD aged that lion at 7yrs, which is not young, but not the oldest cat we've caught. Oldest cat I've ever heard of being caught around here was 11, and the only reason that they knew it was 11 is because it had a collar on her for 8 of those years. (guessed it was 3 when they put the collar on.)

Take care guys, I hope you have a great winter.

I enjoyed your pics, even though I'm a northern snow hunter, the dry ground stuff is always interested me and I hope to get down south and give it a whirl sometime.

Very informative thread for a newbie like myself, Funny how a fella can learn that his preconceived notions about what an adult lion looks like can be so far off base, I am as guilty as the next guy about scoffing at the pic thinking I actually knew what I was looking at  Thanks for the free education,Im happy that there are disagreements from time to time cause it brings up many diffrent points of view that I hadnt considered before, cant say Im happy to feel stupid right now, But I need a little dose of humility now and again to keep my mind open........Ken

ChasinTail, your replies to the "digs" were all first class. This could easily have disintegrated into a scenario with which we are all too familiar.

I agree, nicely played. I would have lost my temper and started calling those guys out. so much to learn on here, every time I think I know it all I learn something new. any lion on 100% desertdry ground is a trophy anyway and only the people who have caught in these conditions knows what I mean. not saying that I catch many in these conditions, but I have caught a few and always been proud of them.
