I've hunted with guys that had real good blue dogs good nose good speed good grit. I've also had and hunted with plott's that were real good, nose, speed and grit. I haven't hunted with or around many cross breeds, but I saw on the movie Dumb and Dumber were they crossed a shitzu with a bull terrier, they called it a bullsh!t maybe they run bears too.

larry, quit trying to fight your boyfreinds battles! you couldn't catch a caged coon even if it was still in the cage.

the unit makes a huge difference. it's alot easier to catch a bear on boulder than say dutton, beaver, or cedar mt. what are the terms of the bet? how many years do I have to give him ? do I get to witness it so I know he's not baitin, cheatin etc? who's dogs is he gona use? he said he don't have much in the pen but he could get some? is he gona cheat and borrow a bluetic or a walker?I wanna see those cross dogs he was talking about. we better get going on this before persuit ends! or is that what he wants?

You sure caught me at a bad time houndem. Lucky for you the timing is perfect. After looking at what is left in the pen you have me on the ropes. All my good dogs are shot from being on the road, so I will just have to use these two knuckleheads. I'm kinda embarrassed, I will be using mine, no one else would barrow me any.

Oh, a witness. Why don't you come along? After all I won't know where you hunt unless you are there, right? Bring a pair of Blueticks with you and we can turn loose together.
I like Beaver but Boulder, Ceder Mountain, it makes no differnece to me.
Before I load the dogs, what will I owe you if I don't catch a bear?

those two sure don't look like jack russle/ pit/ shitzu???? looks like a couple plotts? plotts are known for treeing bear . because they lack a little nose for doing anything else on the dirt.

bet they are fast, but Lets see how they cold trail.lol reason I called you out in the first place was you said those crossed up mutts were fast. no doubt a plott can catch a bear. but my theory on speed is this. you can only run as fast as your nose will allow you to. it is common knowlege that generally a bluetic would have more nose power than a plot therefore making the btic faster in my eyes. I run all types of dogs too, plotts, btics, b&ts whatever will get it done. my experiance has always been btics riggin colder tracks, btics treein game quicker, etc.add a little walker to the mix you're unstoppable. I'm sure if you have a fast plott and a hot hot track he could at least get there as quick as the tic. I'm gona let you off easy on this I'll settle for a nobber if they don't catch

. how bout if you catch?

Catch wrote:Of course I'm kinda bias, I like the 1/4 pit bull, 1/4 Jack Russell, 1/4 plott 1/4 Whippet crosses. Fast, gritty to the death and will kill strange dogs at the tree. I like it just like that, I don't have a bunch of other hound hunters wanting to go with me. !
those are the dogs I was bettin the farm couldn't catch a bear down here. that's what sparked the bet. seen plotts catch bear down here, just not very often.

Houndem,
You made a blanket statement that I would not be able to catch a bear in your parts. I'm very aware of where you hunt and the conditions. News Flash guy, most people run bear in the dirt, I have looked all over to find snow to bear hunt in with no luck. Don't worry about these Plotts, they have a hard time getting down a jumped bears track. Now you were going to bet the farm. Unless it is a Ant Farm, what is the wager?????????

How many days are you going to hunt? If you give a plott enough time he will eventually find a track that he can run. LOL.
I have to agree with you Jared, when on a track a dog is only as fast as his nose. Everyone knows a Bluetick has a much better nose than a Plott, if a bear crosse the road in front of the Plott, I am sure the Plott will be fast on the track. Jared are you going to strike the track and start it for him? If not you guys might have a long day. LMAO!!!

my hell you act like a dam plott. relentless! the only reason I made that blanket statement was the crossed up dogs you said you run. I get so tired of out of state bear hunters that run dogs with half the nose of a hound telling me they could nail the bears down here. then they come out and get their ass handed to them. if you said I run all plotts, the statement would have never been made. If you have hunted down here then you know what I mean. and if you have caught bears down here then hats off to ya because you can catch one anywhere on earth. as for the bear snow thing, I don't know what the hell you're talkin about there pal. by the way who are you? hate to bet the farm agaist a fellar hiding behind an internet alias. I'm Jared Higgins, but you probably already know that since I don't hide. and by the way " bet the farm" is just an expression. I wish I had a farm to bet. bout the only thing I could afford to bet ya is a bluetic pup and lord knows you don't want one of them slow, washed up extinct dogs. wouldn't mind gettin together to do some huntin with ya though maybe we'de both walk away with a different perspective on those breeds. I have yet to go with some one and not learn a little more.
