Sorry that I haven't read through this whole post. Have y'all thought about slapping a discrimination lawsuit on the state of California? Thats what the gays and everyone else has done to get their way. It's not illegal to hunt these animals but it's illegal to hunt them with hounds??? That sounds like discrimination to me! Just a thought..?

Where are gun manufactuers. You think they would have stake in this type of legislation. I know they have a lot on their plate , but after all we are always in full support of them for obvious reasons.

It was stated that we are fighting those senators who are against hounds men or hunting with hounds and that we should get lawyers to fight against them. You can do this but that takes a lot of money and time. What we need to do is identify the senators who are against us and the next time they come up for re-election then support the other canidate and vote them out of office. Try to find an individual who aggress with pro hunters or is at least open minded to the subject and not run off half cocked and miss informed as Ted Lieu has with his connection with the HSUS. Since it appears to be more houndsmen in the northern part of the state then may I suggest that you as a group select your list of senators and start down the path of getting them voted out of office. Believe me if you get the first few out then the rest will run like turkeys for the woods and will at least be open minded about the sportsmen issues in the future.

Just a thought and it cost pretty much nothing but some people getting together and votting and working with people in a district and getting support and again votting these people out !

You are 100 percent right on. Voting these one minded so called "represenatives, legislatures, and assemblymen" out of office should be top priority this year and from now on. We should do this regardless of our outcome. Has someone been able to research and put a big list together of who we need to vote out and people who are running to try and get voted in? Maybe we should print off these lists post in gun stores, local gas stations , your work ,areas grocery stores, all over the net, social websites ect of course with permission.I have talked to many, many uninformed hunters of all types, most say I wish I knew about this sooner, we're not getting it out there. Please don't get me wrong we have great people helping and fighting for us, don't take offense please.

Speaking as only a 13 year Houndsman, I have taken and introduced many young kids to this sport, introducing morales and ethics of houndhunting, how to conserve our wildlife, and to enjoy our outdoor freedom. I also would like to thank all other fellow houndsmen for doing the same, as we know this is a family recreation. I have taken friends out on hunts that were at first skeptical about going at first, but after one time out they see how everything works and comes together and their opinion has changed for the positive in this sport, whether successfull or not.

Rico Oller:

San Andreas, CA - A former California lawmaker, who resides in San Andreas, plans to run for the new mountain county Assembly seat.

Rico Oller, a Republican, is throwing his hat into the ring. Oller represented Assembly District Four from 1996-2000, and Senate District One from 2000-04. Oller then ran for Congress in 2004, but lost to Dan Lungren in the Republican Primary. The newly drawn Assembly District Five includes the counties of Tuolumne, Calaveras, Mariposa, Madera, Mono, Alpine, Amador and El Dorado.

Oller says a main focus of his campaign will be trying to rollback business regulations. "I'm just tired of seeing jobs leaving California to go to Texas and Nevada because California has such silly and punitive laws, and regulations, related to business," adds Oller. "It is really fortunate for Californians that the state legislature can't regulate the weather, because I'm sure they'd do that too."

Oller owns a business that sells drywall and insulation products, and his main office is in San Andreas. He is also a 1976 graduate of Sonora High School.

Oller says he told a close friend this week about his plans to run, noting that he was excited because it would be his first time representing Tuolumne County, where he has numerous family members. "He looked back at me and said, ‘heck, you'll probably win anyway,'" jokes Oller.

Oller is the only candidate, other than Madera County Supervisor Frank Bigelow, that has publically expressed a desire to run for the seat. There is not an incumbent, as Assembly member Kristin Olsen will run for a newly drawn seat in the Central Valley.

Because of term limits, Oller would only be allowed to serve two more years in the Assembly.

Rico Oller will be on the November Ballot for the newly drawn Assembly District Five includes the counties of Tuolumne, Calaveras, Mariposa, Madera, Mono, Alpine, Amador and El Dorado.

Rico is a good man, I know him and his brothers personally and have hunted with them in the past and he's not affraid to stand up for what he believes in. Years ago when we had a bear battle at the capitol he was there and did his part. Mike

When you look at the Amendments to this "TRAIN WRECK" the best I can tell it give's the Fish and Game Commission the ability to create a "hound tag program" that would allow hound hunting in California only with a lot of restrictions on it. Which brings up the question of what good would this law do? Being as the main reason that HSUS has given over and over is how in-humane it is to the dogs and the bears to run them.

This bill, except as specified, would prohibit a person from permitting
generally make it unlawful to permit or allow a dog to pursue a bear,
as defined, or bobcat at any time. This The bill would exempt, from that
prohibition the use of dogs by federal, state, or local law enforcement
officers, or their agents or employees, when carrying out official duties
as required by law.

The bill would eliminate existing provisions allowing for the use of
dogs to hunt bears, and would, instead, authorize the use of not more
than 3 dogs to pursue bears, as defined, or bobcats pursuant to a
depredation permit issued by the department.

The bill would authorize the department to authorize specified entities to use dogs to pursue
bears or bobcats for the purpose of scientific research, under certain
conditions.

The bill would also authorize the pursuit of bears or bobcats
by dogs that are guarding or protecting livestock or crops on property
owned, leased, or rented by the owner of the dogs, if the dogs are
maintained with, and remain in reasonable proximity to, the livestock
or crops being guarded or protected.

The bill would authorize the Fish and Game Commission to establish a hound tag program, imposing
prescribed requirements on the licensure and use of hounds, as defined,
to pursue mammals.

I am just going to state the obvious, these amendments are more ridiculous and make less sense than the bill itself.
