sorry to get off topic here but ike seems to be getting harrased for claiming his dogs will rig lions. if you are doubting that this can be done you are wrong. i have personally seen two old hounds that could rig a dry lion track well. a plott and a redtick, one of which i had the oppertunity to use to train a couple of my hounds to run dry tracks. unfortunitley he passed on before any of mine could pick up the skill. i did however get to see him strike a couple lions off the box and i mean tracks that were several hours old. so ike good on you and happy trails i can only dream of someday having a pack like yours

All I know is that this is Saint Paddy's Day and I have hear so much smelly stuff on here today it would make a walker dog turn plott. I guess sort of like my old Dad use to say, surround em, and then pitch a rock or two in there, they will get chicken shit pretty soon and you will see what they are made of.

And like you said chasintail, I don't give a damn if Mike can't catch his own trail unless he comes on this board slinging shit my way. For anybody to think I was attempting to measure myself up to Leonard or anybody is is about the most stupid thing I ever read.

are all those dogs yours? I thought you only ran redbone? Or maybe I misunderstood a previous post talking about red dogs.... (I'll wake up sooner or later...)

Yes, they are all my dogs and were raised as pups in my backyard. A couple of them will be thirteen this summer and are pretty much retired. Presently I'm feeding eight hounds and hunting six or seven. I do, however, have two young dogs out of my stuff that my son owns and I'll be hunting them hard this spring, summer and fall on bear--so they'll be eight or nine in the line up........

There is one exception and that is the black Shamrock bred plott dog. A friend who hunts plotts gave him to me wanting to see if he would run with my dogs as a yearling. He does, and is a really nice dog but seems to be a little hotter nosed than any of my hounds. He stays with my hounds and finishes most of the time so that's OK. He is a really hard tree dog with lots of grit and I like him on a hot bear bear really well........
