We need to look past our diff. and work it out. This weekend didn't turn out that bad consindering the weather. I would like to thank all the people who worked their butts off for us. It takes alot of effort to hold a event like this. Now is the time to evaluate the trail's. Let's try to come up with some idea's to make it better. We need to remember this is to help raise funds to help fight to keep our hound hunting heritage alive. So we need to keep our eye's focused on the enemy. I'm sure we can work this out for the common good and not our own personal pride.
Thanks to all that worked, Kurt

Dale I thought the field trial ran great and so did everyone else I went with. I am fairley new to this sport. I had a great time despite the rain. Like someone said the only people that are bitching are the ones that don't have good trial dogs and don't get to water down the finals. The final races I watched were prolly the best ones I've seen. All the dogs came in close except the greyhounds in the second race.

I was just trying to stick up for people that run a little slower hounds so they have a reason to be involved and still want to attend.
MPritchard-good visiting with you also, Lonewolf thanks for being one of those people who worked the booth, you never give yourself enough credit and Cassandra...congrats on your good field trial dogs

All else aside, Kurt x2 you are right and Mark...you did mention you had a great time. It's awesome to get your kids involved, and watching Z out there reminds me of why everyone should participate and keep the sport alive

3 and 4 nights a week after work. Rain, wind, or clear skies. When do you have time to hunt when your having your adult dogs sent off for training?

I know for a fact that the slow dogs still have a chance. There were quite a few tracks that dogs missed stakes, or the fast dogs ran past the tree, and slow dogs got part of the tree, and advanced to finals, and then they were drawn into the finals with other dogs that did the same thing. The first line dogs, and fastest, ran against eachother...
It IS a competition event. I just don't understand how we are supposed to cater to every dog. In any other field trial held by any other club, registry, or breed of hunting dogs, its about the BEST dogs...
I think people are missing the point about raising money and having fun?

Dale, regardless of disagreements or not I would like thank you for your time out of your day to do these things rather we all agree or not it was still pretty fun.

I know how we can fix this, we can just go back to qualifying the dogs that ran on Friday and Saturday. lets see thats 250 dogs divided by 10 dogs per race, for 25 races with about 20 minutes per race by the time we load-up into the truck run the handlers up to the start, run the dogs , get to the tree, work your dog on the tree for a minute or two, load back in the truck and run the handlers back to camp to start it all over again it shouldn't take but a extra 8-9 hrs, so all we have to do is add one more day, and I'm sure everybody could be there on Thursday morning to get this done!
See you all there on Thursday morning next year.

Good thinking Dale you should go for Elk Creek Week next year. It would be fun to add a treeing contest and a puppy race to the mix. Heck talk to that racher and set the pond up to do swim races to you can make Elk Creek as big as them breed days back east. Its only a little more work

Yea, just a little more work.
And I'm sure that slownsteady, walkerdog and the guy's from Washington will there waiting at the gate to get things set up and willing to work the booth and be at every tree to get things done.

Takes work and cooperation. Kenton Nationals was a 6 day event made the owners over 1 million a year .Eddie Ross started it and it was a gold mine for years .Then came some new owners dictated to the houndsmen how it was going to be done. Refused to listen. belittled anyone that had a different opinion .Sound familiar and in less than three years destroyed the nationals.
Now they had people that that told them how smart they were and how great the changes were but now one of field trials greatest events is gone.
If the event has out grown 3 days expand it .Let it become a major .
Im sure it wont under present leadership but under good quality learership whats wrong with a major event here.

Well I'm sure people like you slownsteady will step up and be the new leadership for the club and make it a 5 day event so it's fair to everyone. You'll be able to plan it out, run it and make it happen, because you have so much free time and money to be able to do that.
I was against such a drastic change without a little notice, but I think it went well, and by next year, the rest of the kinks should work out and be even BETTER.
