I am not sure if someone knows what is the most visited website by sportsman, but if we can start informing them through their sites that they frequent, we might get more response and more people informed. I have noticed some here and there articles in some hunting magezines, which is nice.

Are you kidding!? Bear hunter magezine? This SB1221 ", FIGHT, should be blasted all over the cover of every issue. Not just a small mention...

NO KIDDING!!!!! I couldn't agree with you more. I am very disappointed with "Bear Hunter Magazine".

Let them know how you feel about it, I just did, for me I've found that if you don't bitch nothing changes!

editor@bear-hunting.com

This what I sent them:
My name is Dale Tobiassen I’m a life time member of California Houndsmen for Conservation and with my membership makes me a life time subscriber to Bear Hunting magazine, we are fighting for of hunting rights here in California against SB 1221 and I’m a little disappointed in the amount of coverage that has been done on our fight, this bill has made it though four committees, the Assembly floor and the Senate floor twice and barely made though all these committees and is currently sitting on Governor Browns desk waiting for his veto or signature and all Bear Hunting Magazine can do is one corner article in Sept/Oct 2012, on page 51 in News and Notes, REALLY is this all you can do? We all enjoy you magazine but would think that you would know better then any of us that together we stand and the with the number of subscriptions to the magazine you could rally a ton of support for bear hunters in California.

It's just like SB 1221 if your not doing everything you can, making the calls to the Govenor, to the the law makers at the capital or showing up for the rallies at the capital ..............YOU DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT TO BITCH IF WE LOSE THIS THING!

I am going to do the same, email bear hunter magizine. I encourage all other houndsmen and houndswomen too as well. Maybe it will help. Good ideas coming up here. If we be silent nothing will change. After all I am sure that bear hunter magizine staff don't want negitive comments of publicity.

This is the response that I got from Bear Hunting Magazine

We have wanted to cover this more thoroughly but timing prevents us from doing so. Our lead time to get an article written, edited, proofed, printed and mailed is quite long. We are putting together the Nov/Dec issue right now and articles had to be to the managing editor by mid-August for it. Unlike a newspaper, we are not able to have current information on an important subject like this in print because it would have changed or been done with by the time it gets to our readers. In the News & Notes Section we can put in more current items just days before it goes to press, though that is still close to four weeks before it gets to our subscribers.

The past two issues have had items in the News & Notes with information and the MBHA Newsletter also covers more on it. Our website's News Flash section has had up to date information on SB 1221. We have welcomed information from the CHC and had discussed a small column in the past, but it is not something that has come to be. If you know of someone within the organization that might be interested in submitting information valuable to California bear hunters, please have them contact me for more information.

That's Bull S%{t. This SB 1221 started months ago. Plenty of time to rally more interest by running articles.
Just my opinion

Now I will email Gerry Brown again.

Hey, looks like Ted Lieu made national news for his absurdity...unfortunately no mention of SB1221 in the article, but it mentions a bunch of other crazy stuff he's done.

Here's a quote from the article...

Lieu’s office recently sent out a statement boasting of the 17 bills he authored that have been approved by the Legislature. But Lieu, who apparently is competing for the title, “California’s Ultimate Nanny,” is sadly typical in Sacramento.

You can find the article on some of Ted's other shenanigans here:
California Lawmakers Refuse to Accept Any Limits on Their Power

I really was motivated by what a few of you said on here...that is, stop being nice. I felt it was time to make some noise. Here's the letter I just sent to Senator Simitian, who represents my district.

Senator Simitian,

I thought you should read this article titled
"California Lawmakers Refuse to Accept Any Limits on Their Power". The link is here: http://reason.com/archives/2012/09/07/c ... -accept-an

It highlights the numerous laws unrelated to the economy, which have been passed while the State's economy is in the gutter. It also highlights Senator Ted Lieu's activity in authoring many ridiculous bills that amazingly have passed the legislature.

One of these bills that Ted Lieu authored was SB1221. This is a bill that was close to me because I am a Sportsman. Earlier in the year, I had requested that you vote against this bill. Unfortunately, you voted FOR this bill, not once, but twice. This bill clearly will cost the tax payers additional money during the worst recession since the great depression...your own financial analysis showed this.

What are you thinking? You and your fellow politicians should be focused on fixing California's economy, not passing law after law that does nothing but further restrict the day to day lives of California's citizens. All that you are doing is giving the government (i.e. you) another way to extract money from cash strapped Californians through new fees, fines and additional taxes. And now you want even more with Prop 30?

Through your actions and those of your fellow politicians...growing government while our economy retracts and people are struggling...you have shown that we are definitely not in this together. SB1221 has moved to the Governor's desk. However, you can tell Governer Brown that I will be voting AGAINST Prop 30. I will also be urging my friends to do the same.

Don't beat me up on this, but are local individual humaine societies the same as the national hsus? Let's ask another question to the tree huggin hippocrates, you want money , help, donations, favors to adopt, save help save misstreated, abandoned, homeless, dogs, cats, animals, pets?? -from us so that all these pets ect can be saved and turn around and ,make it ok for "our" pets, "family members" to be shot!! These guys are crazy! Let's try and inform the regular public of how hippocritical the humain society really is to help stop people from donating to them blindley.

From what I understand, please correct me if I am wrong, the governer needs to VETO the bill. It does not require his signature! If he doesn't veto this thing by the end of September it goes into law.

Oh I thought if he didn't sign the bill by the end of Sept it just went dead, I think he needs to sign it for the bill to become law, now I could be wrong also on that. :)
