Redwood Coonhounds wrote:Well I'm sure people like you slownsteady will step up and be the new leadership for the club and make it a 5 day event so it's fair to everyone. You'll be able to plan it out, run it and make it happen, because you have so much free time and money to be able to do that.

I was against such a drastic change without a little notice, but I think it went well, and by next year, the rest of the kinks should work out and be even BETTER.
What would be wrong with a 5 day event? People would plan their vacations around it. You make the point that you were against such a drastic change without notice. Shouldnt there be a vote or is it a dictatorship. Notice of proposed change then mail in a vote.Drastic idea right.
I would not be opposed to helping at an event I love hounds even greyhounds and most houndsmen and women.
Well good luck to all I will be basking in the sun on a south sea island enjoying my free time and money . Believe me I earned it more than you will ever know

Dale I to would be willing to help out with what ever is needed to help keep Elk Creek what it is and to make it even better if we could. I know just how much time and work and money goes into it. But we have a year and around 8000 hours left till next year. Just let me know how I can help. Chris.

Thanks slownsteady that's just how much help I thought I would get from you "little to none"

If you look back at this post you will see how we first started to talk about these changes at our first field trial of the year in Jan. (136 dogs entered) then in late Jan. when I shut the pot race down to get the opinion of everybody there (50 dogs entered) then at our meeting in Feb. when the club voted on the changes for our Feb. field trial (149 dogs entered) up to this point we have had nobody say anything against the changes all we were told was how much better things were going, then 2 pot races with out a single complaint, at our March meeting we voted on the changes for Elk Creek this was a vote by the members that show up and make the comitment to work and support this club unlike the few that come on this web site to tell us how we are screwwing up this Field Trial.

Now we are looking into trying to give the slower dogs a place to run maybe with a consilation race for the dogs that run in both the heats and the reentrees with out making it into the finals like we use to have for the A/B's. but for now we are just talking about it .

Thanks chris for the offer

Dale

Dale I said I would be willing to help. You dont want help you want to dictate and then have everyone feel sorry for you.Your on a power trip and dont even dare to mis-quote me .So far I havent made this personel but it can go there.
If you were any kind of leader you would listen to the members then try to fix the problem but your to busy trying to be a smart ass.
Instead of trying to piss off the Washington houndsmen that drive all that distance to support the trials why not listen to their issues the put everything to a vote.
All we ever hear is how great you are and how lazy everyone else is .If you were a leader you would have more help than you could use maybe people cant stand to be around you and your dictator ways.I for one am tired of you constant whineing

I haven't dictated anything in any way, as I have already posted this was dicussed and voted on by the people/members who run and support this clubs field trials, I haven't called anybody lazy, or called myself great all I've done is pointed out what it takes to put on a field trial, and in no way do I do it by myself, but when a few of the people that don't step up to help are the very few that whine about the way we run things I'll call them out to step up, now I have no idea who you are or what your background is with field trials and I really don't care if you take this personal or not,
and as far as the guy's from Washington I don't expect anything from them but to accept the way we run our races, the same as when I go to Oregon and Utah and accept the way they run there's it's there club and they run them the way they run them.

I surly hope I havn't miss quoted you this time! :joker

The pink pillow case was because that dog last year while they were autioning
it off the dog would not stop barking at the tree and when they turned him loose (from what I was told) made bee line for the tree.

Haven't heard anything about Paynes Creek yet.

I didn't mean to sound shitty about the "don't like it don't come", it was just that we had put alot of thought in the changes that were brought up to us by the houndsmen that attended our earlyer events. Goog luck in Idaho.

FWIW - I talked with a friend here in NV last night that went to Elk Creek. He said that he liked how it was ran. The only commend he did make was the amount of dogs in the finals, and there was no clear cut "winner."

Guess what boys and girls, look who logged in. I have been reading everyone's posts and I just could not keep quiet any more. For those of you who know me I'm sure that is no surprise! I have gotten a lot of feedback from the field trial and there are only a handfull of people who did not like the way it was ran, the majority loved it. Guess what, where I come from majority rules. As far as too many dogs in the finals there is a way to fix that, it is called 1/4 finals, this eliminates alot of the dogs so the finals are not so big. As for having a week long thing at EC, there is no way. We do not own that land, the drags are laid by the landowners whom work, we are lucky to be able to start on Fri. I for one thought the trial went great, all dogs ran well (no carry-overs) and I believe it was Cassandra who brought up the fact at how closely matched all of the dogs were in the finals. Most of the finals you could have thrown a blanket over the majority of the dogs, even in the race you could not hardly see because of the rain and hail. I have been doing these field trials for over 30 years and one thing I have learned is that you will never make everyone happy, there will always be someone who complains, that is just human nature. Most people might think it is the greatest thing since sliced bread and a couple will always bitch even if you ---- gold turds!

Where do go to get these Gold Turds for the raffle?
Never mind, I know if we had them there would be somebody who wouldn't want them!
