Well here's how I see it. We are all dog hunters in some form or fashion. I don't know anyone on here personally. I do know we should be able do as we please in our own homes on our own places and in our own kennels. In a time where ignorance and stupidity seem to be the norm, we should stand united. If Mr Dan wants to raise poodles and call them God's Gift To Airedales, what's it matter? If all he's hunted is a rat in his bathroom once or was the one to teach Davy Crockett, what's it matter? Point is most everything we have in our lives was a new idea, a new cross, or a new technique at some point. Heck the cave man was flipping stones until somebody invented the wheel. If he's buying the feed, and he's taking care of them, and he's putting the time into them whether they work or not, what's it matter to anyone else. I feed what I want and like. I hunt and breed the way I like because it's my dime. If he isn't really breeding these dogs up and it's all big joke, what's it matter? It's at the very least interesting. He's atleast sparked everyone that's commented curiosity or you wouldn't have clicked on it to read it. Unless you are like some Jr High girl that just needs the drama. In which case that person is the one that is hard to take serious. If that isn't you then don't make it look like you. As for the word "ultimate" it's an adjective. The man already said it's the goal but not necessarily the result. Again, what's it matter if they are the ultimate, or God's Gift, or whatever other name you could possibly twist into offensive. I don't agree with everything I read on here or anywhere else. Sometimes I'll put my two cents in and sometimes I don't. I don't dislike the person for believing different as long as they don't try to force it down my throat. They believe and think the way they do, heck maybe one day they'll prove they were right and I'll have learned something. Heck MAYBE Mr. Dan is wrong. MAYBE he's not starting the Ultimate Bobcat dog. MAYBE he's start the ULTIMATE DOG period and I'll have to get rid of all my hog dogs and start over with his. AND maybe he's just having fun with an idea that interests me in which case I'll keep having good fun reading material. Life is short. None of us are guaranteed tomorrow! So love God and your loved ones, enjoy what you enjoy while you can, and don't sweat the small stuff.

Irish is referencing the code of old school true houndsman. Lot of men when hearing blowing about hounds say don't tell me Show Me. You keyboard warriors need out more.
I’ll be danged is that the code he was referring to, but doing so in a low key way??? Sly, cunning rascal that Irish is , I just thought he was trying to broaden our historical knowledge of one of nations states in only a way a 10th grade American history teacher would. I was in tightwad Missouri deer hunting 2 years ago and found a bumper sticker in at a bait shop that read
“ how can we be ShoMo if you don’t ask to go” , paid for by the Missouri Tourism commission of course and not the top behind the screens bobcat hunters secret syndicate, very same syndicate that conspiracy theorist speculate is actually being secretly funded and ran by a collaboration of high ranking folks from the various “ breed registering clubs”, and it’s called KEYBOARD COMMANDO, helllloooo, dang millennials....

Leapordcur1, I get private messages too. And some of the big names think you are a coward. That is as nice as I can put it.
I am a pretty nice guy. People who know me well trust me. They may or may not like me, but they know I am trustworthy. And I am not violent. I haven’t hurt anyone since the 70’s in the sports arena. And even then injury was never intentional.
You don’t want your name and town out here for all to see, and I can understand why. Because you have exposed your inner most parts. Most of us have learned how to hide our ugliness. I am sure my ugliness is as ugly as yours. But I keep my self covered up a lot better than you have. So, OK:
Send me your name and town privately, and some friends who support you and will verify it for me. I will not print it out here on Big Game Houndsmen; except I will defend you and say we are meeting when I can get to your neighborhood.
And you can show me how this dog thing should be done, and why you think other ways invented by other people should not be allowed.
And like I said, I can help you learn how to look up words you can’t spell, like your name.
Because what happens is this: every time you make a post, your misspelled name is the first thing at the very top of every post.
You are mocking and insulting yourself with every post, and it kind of neutralizes your efferts to insult me or whoever you are hoping to belittle.
If your God given gift is to insult people, let me help you be a little more effective at that...in case you ever decide to take up a cause that actually matters; like maybe other people’s freedom to pursue hapiness in the way that they choose without being bullied and slandered by anonymous cowards.
So if your goal is to come off as an irritating smart ass, you need to first come off as smart.
You are at risk in that department. I’m sure you are smart, and there are some little things that might give people an outside chance of believing that you are.
So here’s my tip: re-invent yourself (again) and pick a word you can spell for your name; or pick a name that could be spelled many ways like maybe “Bows” ”Boze” “Bose” “Boes”; and look up words you can not spell in the body of your insults. Because, unfortunately, in our culture, correct spelling adds credibility to what it is you are trying to say. I have to work at it because my spelling sucks. But when we go on that squirrel hunt, or whatever it is you hunt, I can show you how to look up words if you have trouble figuring out how to do that.
We don’t care here on BGH, we are just Freinds and most of the time we can tell what word you are trying to use like “Leopard” instead of ”Leapord”. Misspelled words, typos, false autocorrect, etc., I mean we see through them and try to find the meaning you are trying to convey. But in this case it is your identity. I would think that even you might be embarrased that you don’t know how to spell the name of your breed of dogs. I mean, it embarrasses me, and I am not even the one posting the insult. How long have you had this breed? Just curious.

These things do take funny turns. I agree with a ot of the things that Goose wrote. I've really been studying quit a bit of anthropology over the last decade and I see how the human race was laid out. It was developed in stages by our creator. First came the blacks, then the browns and later the whites. Noah was the first "white" man according to the old texts and it was a little scary to those around him at first, but where would we be without Noah?
In that lineage of developement, little things were added to the previous models to come up with the latest version of human kind. One of the final markers that, according to the old texts, pleased the creator, was the traits of compasion and empathy. These were not normally present in the older models. The lack of these traits can also closely parallel the average IQ in a subspecies of humankind. This is a well documented fact...in fact.
It is quite possible that Lep1 does not have the upgrade. It is also possible that he belongs to a subspecies of humankind that is very smart but has a devious and polluted nature. Most can guess what those people are commonly called today. I don't like even writing their people's name because "they" own all of the media outlets, most of the poloticians and the banks, etc., etc.
Those people are particularly familiar to most folks around the world and have been kicked out of many different countries, many different times. Maybe out Lep1 is the offspring of one of those people.
This is my attempt at rationalizing irrational behavior. Even if I don't really know why he does it, I'd like to at least know what his pedigree reads like...same as any dog. It's all there in the genes.

While I'm here, I might as well give an update while I'm at it.
So, for the first time in 20 years I'm the proud owner of 6 adult dogs. I think that I chose right, but I'm still very nervous about that number. Assuming none die accidentaly, I should be right with the breeding gods.
As for hounds, this is where I've taken my biggest leap of faith. I can no long produce a registerable Jug x Susie bred Leopard (See what I did there?). These are the hounds that I have caught many cats with. These are the dogs that do it well in the traditional way...my safety net, so to speak.
I can produce an unregisterable Jug x Susie dog, but not without some running dog in the mix. I'm alright with that though. I love the Leopard breed but there's no where left to go inside of the breed and I'm not sganding still. There are improvements to be made and I'm making them, if only for myself.
One the lurcher side of things, I met up with a friend about half way to Las Vegas (never want to go there) and swapped a female BC for a male BC, because that's what I'll need for making next year's lurcher pups. I think I knocked it out of the park but the one I got in that trade is only one year old, so we'll see.
The temps. have come down here East of Phoenix and I'm starting to get my dogs used to cactus and all of the new smells. It going a little rough on that front but thank god for neddle nosed pliers.
One of the things that I decided before I left WI was that I was not going to deal with retraining a bunch of old dogs. I left nearly every older dog I owned back in WI and came here with mostly yearlings. I trained young dogs full time for over a decade so I'm not worries about having a whole pack of nitwits. In fact, I think it will be to my benifit...in the longrun. Maybe I will regret it, but not so far.
I have Tommy (Lurcher) heading my pack. He's not going to be of much help cold trailing, but he'll catch most of my training critters as I break these young ones in on hot races and cage releases.
I have Darky (Lep x July) and Rachel III to do the heavy lifting when it comes to coldtrailing. They don't seem to know they aren't good at it yet and I'm not going to tell them.
I have Luna (Stag) for making more lurchers mostly, but she's a speed demon and could be handy in between having litters.
I have Ole the Magnificent (UBD) and he just turned 1 year old. He is smart and willing and obedient and has most of what I had hoped to create in that cross.
I have one new BC named Grit (only had him 2 days now). He looks very capable but we'll see.
That's my whole team now. If nothing bad happens, I should be able to pull this thing off. Stay tuned while I get my bearings in this new land.

Dan, the only thing I see that might work down here is Lep.- July. Trying to run a cat down and catch him on the ground in The Southeast with anything other than a running walker pack is like trying to stick a round peg in a square hole.

Dan, You a Crazy Man. Hope its panning out for you. Been a interesting read from the beginning. Not my cup of tea on dog choices but I'm still here seeing how this plays out.
Leapordcur1, You a funny guy and still probably a Virgin, it will happen someday. In the meantime keep the lube companies in business.
