on average, how many coons do you catch per night out and what was the most that you have treed in one night? i hear alot of 1-2 coon nights, and people are really happy with that. personally if i only catch 4-5 coons a night it wasnt all that great. maybe i just have an abundance of them running around in my hunting area. anyways i would like to see the average and if i am fortunate to have that many around here. and that meens treed not spotlighted first.

On average I catch two to three a night (about 1.5 - 2 hour hunt). I have caught as many as 11 in one night (one tree had 4 coons in it though; another had 2; the rest were singles). Our coon population around here is mediocre at best. Montana (or at least where I reside) does not have a large amount great coon habitat and coon food sources (such as corn); therefore our coon population is not all that great.

11 coons in one night

, your doing somthing special I dont care if you treed sow's with kittens at each tree, I coon hunted from the time i was 11 until a couple of years ago and if i treed 6 coons in one night i stayed up went to town and told every one i knew, now were not talking hunting in snow and down here, i dont know ANYONE who ever treed more than 6 coons in one night in oklahoma even when it snowed unless they were liars

not saying your one, you just must have awesome dogs and mine have all sucked

Lets see 2 to 3 coons in 1.5 hours to 2 hours so you tree a coon in 30 to 45 min every time you hunt on average, you must drive like hell from spot to spot, dump hot nosed dogs that are tight mouthed as hell and be a world class trainer remembering average coon population or slightly less, or..........your coon population is better than you think or.......well i wont say what else. interesting would like to own dogs that good some day

I live in the same area as Walkerrule and have treed 10 coons in a night. If you hunt down in the valley around the river here you can put the hurt on em. When their moving that is. I have a honey hole with about 4 miles of river and a good road to hunt, and when their moving out there its like fish in a barrel. Great place to train pups. Put up six coons in one tree was the most I have seen.

I think the most we've treed was 9 in a night. That's 9 seperate races, and trees. I think there were a few other coons in those same trees, I think the total we seen that night was like 15 in 9 trees. We hunted all night. 7pm to 2am.
A normal night is around 0 - 3 coons. Thats a pretty good night too. Not many coon around, and don't do much hunting to begin with. I'd rather go home and say we didn't tree anything, than go, we treed 2 coons, 3 possum and killed a skunk - thats more like it in these parts

no one trees more than six coons down there probably cause every tom, dick and harry is out at night pluggin coons. montana does not have alot of coon hutning pressure. and how does snow benefit coon hunting? lol. they den up when its snowy and cold. and if there is snow on the ground un mt, most guys are chasin cats not coons.

Well snow helps coon hunting for many reasons down here,IF IT'S NOT 20DEG. OR COLDER. In one way it does because when you have a fresh or soft snow the dogs just track better, maybe not way up north but i'll bet it's not as tuff as when it's cold and dry. 2nd you know excatly what your on, thats a big help,3rd coons are way easier to find when we have good snow. They will get out and go the the creep feeders and get what the cows left, all our game moves alot when it first snows. 3rd we all get in a better mood down here when we get alittle snow, dogs included

Yeah we do have alot of coon hunters here and I think lot's of good dogs to, and maybe there smarter coons cause they are ran alot more even if there not shot out. I hope to some day be able to hunt in a climate like montana and I guess i'll see if my dogs can tree 6-11 coons anight, but i doubt they will. I like to be asleep before the sun comes back up

and there just ol'potlickers most dont even have papers and the rest are just local bred "coon" dogs not highpowered " big game" hounds also if coons got in there dens every time it snowed you would have a bunch of dead coons up north from starvation plus every picture i see on here from colorado north there is never a dead anything beside a hound unless it snowed???? oh well what do i know anyway

Most this year was 7. I think. Dog was running out i a little flat along the river. Kept treeing and then running some more and treeing. I thought she was being retarded like most hounds. Runnin a coyote or something. We got to looking and we must have run across a pack of them. There was a little bugger in alder saplings about every 50 yards. She then ran across a jack fir patch about a 1/4 mile i would guess and treed a big boar last of all. Then we treed two more at the next feeder creek. Fun night had my buddies two nephews 9 and 11 with us I think that is why we got lucky. Always do when we bring them. I think they are hooked. Only shot 2 of em so we can catch them again next time.
