Let's hear about the best of the best...

Started out on what i thought was a cat in a well known camping ground, turned out to be a fox....dogs ran this thing for ever...while i was trying to catch the sorry potlickers, they ended up comming my way down a canyon and lined out the track towards a couple camp sites, where some camp workers were working on the shade canopies up on a ladder. Well one of my pups must have seen one of the guys climb the ladder or something, decided to go and tree...when he began treeing all the dogs chimmed in and helped him

so when i got there, there was two mexicans one up the ladder and one in a tree...boy were they pissed off lol

hahah wow that was possibly the funniest story I have ever heard! You sure you dont live down in Texas and you were training for that? No just kidding that is pretty crazy though.

Beats mine, we had a bear that we ran, went down this draw and up the other side, could see the hounds working it. Ended up running right by 2 cow elk, we just thought to ourselves "man these dogs are gonna hit that elk track and be gone! Well to our luck they didnt and they went over this saddle to the draw on the other side. Got over there where we could here the dogs and they started to work that track up the ridge right pass us so we headed up top to get above them. Well we ended up seeing what they were chasing, haha at least this time they didnt let the Bull elk get away, they were coming right up the trail he just came up to the road. Well they were opening up alright until they saw us at the top of the road.....then it got real quiet and they knew what was going to happen next. Only one that didnt trash out was my buddies best dog who was still on the bears. Got caught back up to her and turned them loose again, never caught em but that was a good chase......to bad it was bow season yet then, could of stuck that one, hahaha

FINALLY!!! A subject I'm qualified to discuss with some expertise...
A couple of weeks ago my dog and a buddies dog stretched a blind, de-clawed house cat in a camp ground... with four or five horrified old ladies watching. The cat belonged to the Camp Host. A blind, de-clawed house cat they rescued from a shelter and had it tied to the tree outside their camp trailer. That cat used up all 9 lives right there on the spot.
That was about 3 weeks ago.
My buddies dogs ran two moose down into some private cabins one Labor Day morning. Bayed the moose up in their YARD at 7:00am with a cabin full of people trying to sleep.
The other moose split off and mowed their fence down and went into a Girls Scout Camp and bayed up there. I tell you what, we took TWO ass chewing's that day.
I had three pups trailing a lion and jumped a moose... it was game on. We had to run off the mountain and go around to another canyon to get to them. We got over there and I could hear them giving it hell in a big Park. I told my buddy to go get them.
He went in there and there was a Wedding Photo Shoot going... a girl in a white wedding dress, sitting on a sheet all laid out in the snow... they are trying to do this wedding photo shoot, and right next to them these pups are heeling a pissed off moose.
I guess he got an earful on that deal.
My buddies dogs went off the mountain down into some houses and ran across a lady walking her poodle... they MOPPED the poodle. Me and a buddy were hunting some private ground and had some young dogs bay up a shaggy little shetlon pony up in a canyon. Poor terrified pony. My buddy knows a guy down by him and his dogs rigged, started and bayed up a bow hunter one year. The bow hunter was fighting the dogs off with his bow and they were getting after him!! He snuck in thinking they had a bear caught. I could keep going all day...
Like I said, finally a subject I'm qualified to talk about.

that is some funny stuff right there, creative topic liontracker. Wish I could say I had no stories to chime in with! sometimes I just hunt right out back of my house in about a 20 acre woodlot right next to a decent sized neighboorhood. and it's about 6 am and we wer out for a quick fox run before i went to school. well she started to trail real nice and then she really started to smoke the track, and Im thinkin here we go this could be a nice run. Followed her right out side the woods and herd the race come boomin towards me and im ready to see the fox come bustin out. then I here sticks crackin and the brush shaken, and a big ol buck erupts from cover with my dog hot on his heels! they went screamin across a crop feild and into someones back yard, and went rippin through gardens hoppin fences, And slowly light after light after light started to swith on in all the houses. then I knew i was in some deep stuff. by now there were way ahead of me and i decide to cut the race off. so I tore off to get ahead. Well about 5 minutes into my mad dash, Theres a massive drainage ditch the only way to catch my dog befor noon was to cross it. Now remember I was just out for a quick run then hop in the car and off to school. so im in all my school clothes. WEll i crossed that dang ditch and came out in muck up past my waist. about 20 minutes later i caught my dog, and gave her a little peice of my mind. by now its 7:30. school starts at 7 45. and i have a 30 minute car ride and i had to shower and change. lets just say i didnt even bother explaining to my teacher why i was late that day

FALL RIVER LUCKY STRIKES A BEAR OFF THE QUAD JIM PUTS HIM DOWN AND HE LINES IT OUT COLD TRAILING AWAY FROM US.
THINKING FIRST MISTAKE THAT IT WAS HOT ENOUGH TO DROP THE PUPS INTO HIM TURN IM LOOSE WELL ALL SOUNDED ABOUT RIGHT UNTIL ROY TURNED HIS BLUETICK INTO THEM THE DOG WENT FAIRLY DEEP AND IT SOUNDED LIKE HE TREED, THEN ALL THE PUPS STARTED TREEING TO JIM HAD DROVE AROUND THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CUT SO HE WENT IN FIRST HE SAID WHEN HE GOT TO THIS LITTLE OLD OAK TREE THAT BLUETICK WAS ABOUT 7' OFF THE GROUND FALSE TREEING AND THEM PUPS WERE TREEING THE BLUETICK

WITH SOME GENTLE PURSUASION JIM WAS ABLE TO PERSUADE THE PUPS TO LET THE BLUETICK OUT OF THE TREE. HE THEN SENT THE HOLE CREW DOWN THE HILL TOWARDS LUCKY WHO WAS STILL TRAILING RIGHT ALONG. THEM YOUNG DOGS CAUGHT UP TO OLD LUCK AND IN ABOUT 2 MINUTES HAD THIS THING JUMPED COOL RIGHT
SECOND MISTAKE IT TOOK SOME RIDING ON THEM QUADS THAT WOULD HAVE MADE JEFF GORDON SCREAM FOR MERCY. BUT WE GOT UM BOYS THEY WERE ABOUT 10' BEHIND A PRETTY FAST COYOTE HE WAS RUNNING FOR HIS LIFE. BUY THE TIME WE FINISHED A LITTLE LESSON
ON GOOD AND BAD I DON'T THINK THAT COYOTE WILL HAVE ANY PROBLEMS FOR A WHILE.
SO WE GATHERED ALL THE DOGS EXCEPT FOR ONE WHERE THE HECK IS THAT OLD DOG LUCKY OH WELL WE'LL PICK HIM UP ON THE WAY OUT WE PUT THE DOGS UP AND JIM SAYS WAIT I HEAR MY DOG, I CUP UP AND SURE ENOUGH ITS OLD FALL RIVER LUCKY AND HE IS TREED WE DRIVE BACK AROUND TO HIM TURN THE PUPS OUT TO HIM FIRST, WAIT FOR ABOUT A MINUTE THEN TURN OLD BLUE LOOSE THEY ALL GO UP AND TREE FINALLY A BEAR. THERE IS NOTHING LIKE EXPERINCE THANKS LUCKY.
YOUR SON AND DAUGHTERS WILL BE JUST FINE.
ONE THING IS FOR SURE THEY RUN TO CATCH WE CAN SLOW THEM DOWN ON THE BAD STUFF.
SCORE CARD
ONE BLUETICK ONE COYOTE AND THEN LUCKY SHOWING THEM THE TREE

I do believe I remember someones dogs killing a deer on a Mini Slam Nite Hunt? LOL.
I've had a dog tree a bird. Had them run and tree squirrels by sight.
Had a good deer race last bear season. Strike, turn around, strike, turn around, strike one more time, dro the tailgate. Maybe 45 seconds later 3 does bust loose in front of us, down the road, off to the other side then right back past us. All out in the open plain as day. Dogs come flying through, and we went scattering looking to ruin some fun. After a good talking to, put the dogs back on the hood, finish down that road, turn around, come back through on the way out, STRIKE. LOL I guess we didn't get the point across the first time. So we tried it one more time.

Hound Dawg thank for sharing it nice to know I'm not the only one. When my muzzy dog was about eight months old I took him up to cherry springs nature area for those familiar with mink creek in se idaho. I thought we don't need a shock collar we're on a trail in a nature area? Well he hit the bushes and I thought alright he's ranging out he opened and I thought wonder what that is, and the first moose race of his career was on. Down the mink creek road headed north bound, he put the moose into a chain link fence, which is still a little bent, Then through three differnt yards on a sunday afternoon, he finaly gave up after two miles or so. I got him back around the old frasiers egg farm. I swear everybody along that road watched me walk back bye.
Number two. My first bear hunt the guy who introduced me to this just got done talking for over an hour about all the times a deer crossed the road in front of his dogs and they never even looked twice these dogs would never trash they were perfect. right. His true through dog struck he was cut loose loud and proud he said that bears close and dumped the lot, waited a minute and there roar exploded, he's caught he said get in the truck, we loaded up and he said it sound like there right near the road if it's on the ground fighting we'll have to kill it so they don't get tore up. Around the bend we went and he was right they were right of the road in a grassy clearing right by the creek with three old range cows bayed up real tight they were on them like white on rice, with a family on the other side of the grassy area standing outside there tent wondering what was going on. I said well we got three tags and we're close enough to the road you want me to drop them all

. It was a quite ride home.

Last year was a long one....
Just got my old dog under some lion trees and thought to my self....self, this is fun and you need more dogs. Note to self - one part done dog is nothing to add a pup to.
First trip out by ourselves we cut two smokin hot lion tracks. Old dog is opening from 50 yards from the track. I think he's got it now. Drop the leash and POW, he's gone. Drop the pup and she's gone right after him. Look up and a yearling bull moose is leaving the scene with two dogs right on his tail. They run him for a couple miles before the pup runs out of wind and I can cut her off. I got her rounded up and watched on the Garmin while the old dog runs out of range(3+ miles from where we are now). Come back that afternoon and round up the old dog.
Second trip out. Cut a fresh female lion track. I learned last time. Walk out the track for a couple hundred yards. Now, I drop the old dog and off he goes....On the lion track. Walk the pup for another couple hundred yards. She takes off working the track. Watch on the Garmin again, She trees in about 15 minutes. Old dog still going...I get to where she's treed and see the squirell. I give her the what-for and send her down the lion track again. Both dogs run the track for 3 miles and start to mill in one area. I think they're just having a hard time locating. As I get closer I hear them blow up and start to circle. I can hear that it's not a cat they are on now. I watch helplessly as they ran for another 8 miles on the Garmin. Several hours later, I get them gathered up.
Third trip out we are working up a coulee and find a two day track. Nice tom, but I assume at this point not probably catchable(at least for my dogs at 1pm). I've got my daughter in my backpack with me. We are enjoying the afternoon with the dogs and nice weather so I keep the dogs leashed for a while and we work up the coulee and the dogs are showing some real intrest. My enthusiasm soon overpowers my common sense and I cut both of them loose. They trail up over the side of the coulee and out into the next draw. My and my daughter crawl literally up on the ridge and stop and listen for a while. We hear them trailing along out in the timber within a mile or so. While we are sitting there we call mom on the cell phone and tell her what we are up to and where we are at. About that time the tree switch goes off on the Garmin. I think cool, about time. Well, me and the girl head down into the next draw and the snow is DEEP! A 40 pound girl and the 30 pounds of junk that I always have in my pack are getting heavy and not alowing me to walk on any snow. I tredge my way to the dogs and the whole time I keep thinking how cool it will be for my 4 year old daughter to see her first cat in a tree. Well we get to the squirrel tree and if she hadn't been with me I'd buried both dogs.
Fourth trip out, I cut a nice little tom track out of the pickup. I drop both dogs and off they go. I drive around to where I know they will come out and see the cat track, but no dog tracks. I wait a minute and can hear them coming. I watch them go right on by and tell them "good dogs". I drive down the road a little ways and park in a parking lot and start to hike up to them and see another hunter coming up the road. I stop to say hello and ask if he would like to run it with me. About that time I hear my dogs trash off again. Needless to say, the other guy and his friend tree the cat while I hunt down my dogs for the next 4 hours. I watched on the Garmin and the dogs ran 13 miles in about a 3 mile area. Just around and around. Every time I would get in front, the deer would turn and there the dogs would go. I was past mad at that point, and vowed to break them from trash, not just kill them.
I have worked all summer and fall and now I can hunt both of them right through a deer herd without so much as a peep from either one of them. Hopefully they will remember this winter just how unpleasant it is to run trash.

Couple years ago on a bear hunt with a friend.. Bear crossed the road in front of my buddy not 1/4 mile into the property first thing in the morning. there were three of us.. They both turned dogs loose and gave me (newbie) the nod and approval to go ahead and Cut loose.. Probably 12 dogs screaming hot on The track to the rightside of the road.... and my dog goes Screaming to the Left doesn't miss a beat...
Caught her a mile down crossing the road right behind a deer... All I could say was.. At least she's wasn't a me too dog!
I finally had to stop hunting that dog, Mostly my fault for not getting her broke young.. But man She was a garanteed Race, and I mean garanteed. She was going to find a track, and was damn good and moving a track.. Too many years before I started to wise up and figure out there wasn't that much good game in the woods...

Christmas at the Eagles Nest
It was a Christmas cold and snowing and the wind it were a blowing, and the fire was a sure burning hot.
I looked at my bride as she ran outside, hearing my new pups from Vermont making noise.
It wasn’t close, like they were supposed, as I ran to the edge of the porch.
Off they went. For the truck I sprint worrying about what they were on.
I get to the gate just a bit too late, as they were following dimples in the snow.
My chest fills with pride and hurriedly I ride in the direction that I heard them last note.
A jump, I hear and grab another gear we got something going for sure.
To the crossing in the road, all of a sudden I knowed it was an Elk print clear.
I tightened my jaw, rage filled my craw, and too fast for the road, that poor old Ford sped.
Them damn pups will pay, and I dare say, I might give them an icy cold bed.
To my surprise from the river did rise the sound of two dogs treed.
Well, what I thought was true, I certainly knew was not, and I had big tom indeed.
On the way in, to my chagrin, they had backed into a big cedar break.
A spike bull snorting, those pups sporting, and daring him to make move.
Well, he did go, and circled so I could position myself for the next go-round.
I heard them coming and I heard the elk running, right to where I laid in their path.
I peaked around to see, and lordy be, the elk slid to a stop at my feet.
We met eyes with caution, I turned him to the bottom off the trail he had so carefully laid.
Now I’m a hidin with my leashes smilin, at the wrath that will soon be paid.
When it was done, and my partner he did run, and it took me some time for his trust.
In the end I just smile, cause all the while, he was just doing what he must.

This happend a while back when I was 15 we had three dogs that we raised from pups we found dumped in our canyon. We finaly decided they were lab crossed with sheperd (maybe with a little of who knows what else sprinkled in), they did go on to make real nice bear, fox and bobcat dogs though. First they had to learn deer were off limits...
I came home from school and found each of them chewing on a deer leg. These were fresh and I was realy hoping it was just from a lion kill they had found... A few days later I was out with my dogs and they took off running like the wind. I could hear them making a big circle and was able to catch a glimpse of the race as they went over a hill about a mile away. They were on a nice fork buck and only 30-40 feet behind it. I was running track back then so was in realy good shape and was able to head them off with some good luck. They circled back and ended up on our property. I got there just in time to put a stop to it before the deer was realy hurt. They had it cornered in a little clearing and the deer was about dead on its feet (never seen a deer that tired before or since).
I grabbed each one of my dogs and tossed them across the creek. The deer hit me in the ass with its front feet as I was chasing down the last dog too. Dumb thing didn't know I was saving its life

Those three dogs never chased a deer for the rest of thier lives. Except that one time I had them help me run some deer that were stuck in the orchard out, they over did it and I ended up having to put one deer down that they caught.

It did eat well though
