He's had a few clients up in the mountains this past weekend and caught a really nice bear for one them. Sadly though, he lost his best lion dog "Spider" (she does it all, but is best on lions). He dumped 8 dogs, and 8 dogs were at the tree, but spider didn't make it out of the canyon alive. I'll let him tell the story if he wants to when he gets down the mountain. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers, he sounded rightfully bummed this afternoon when I talked to him. They have 2 more tags to fill, which I'm sure won't take long.

Sorry to hear that, Mike seems like a hell of a nice young man and a tough hunter to boot. I've spoken to him on the phone more than once and hope to share a lion hunt with him someday............

gosh what a terrible couple of weeks. tyler thanks buddy for the kind words. spider was an amazing dog, i watched her trail tracks that other dogs walked over time and time again. i can't take credit for her though, She was out of Tim Andersons stock and truly a pleasure to hunt, the only thing I can take claim to is showing her lions. Tim had her straight when I got her (she just didn't show much potential with his pack and after showing her a few more lions the light bulb went off and she blew my mind) to this day she is the best DRY ground lion dog I've owned, if spider opened you were on the right track. Period. She never trashed on me. not once. just an absolute pleasure to hunt, you never had to go look for her, she either had the lion, or she would come find you. I hope I can own a few more like her.
It really really hurt me to lose her on a bear, she was a lion dog through and through. But i was unsure of the track (blind rig) so I dumped ol reliable and she blew up 100 yds from the truck. Her last bear turned out to be 20 3/4 (taxidermist says he will book at 20 1/2 after shrinking, and was 7 foot. fabulous bear. but not worth losing that caliber of a dog. my goodness the lord must be testing us, seems like he only takes the good ones i used to have a few i would have given him.
i just hope she gets to go up huntin with my old man and pancho an red and i hope they hook up with ol greg and give em hell. ill be seeing you soon amigos.
vaughn thanks for the kind words, but don't try an fool these people, still just a young dumb kid that gets lucky every once and a while is all.

but truly enjoyed you and coudimundi's company hope to hunt with ya'll again soon.
take it easy amigos and happy hunting, won't be on here for a while, life is busy, with school work and hunting and i've got some dog makin to do.
