I bought a dog from Mike 2 falls ago. He was great to deal with prior to any exchange of money, told me what i could expect from the dog, got her and hunted her, and she would not leave the truck. I was told what a fireball she was, and she would not get in one race. I would get a smokin strike, dump dogs, and she would just stand on the rd, throw her back in the truck, start following dogs, bear and dogs cross in front of me, and try and pitch her back in, she would just mill around on the rd. I gave her an honest effort, this went on for 3 weeks of hunting the dogs hard, and she didn't get in on one race. So i called Mike to talk to him about the problem, he told me that he found that hard to believe... He said he would get back with me, i kept hunting with same result, i called him probably 10-15 times and he wouldn't answer my calls, had friends call and leave him a message that they were interested in buying a dog, he would call them right back, then i would call no answer.. I finally left a nasty message, he called me back i told him i would ship her back and pay shipping just to try and get some of my money back, told me he would get back with me, never heard from him again. The dog was culled, i payed a $1000 for a POS dog, shitty way to handle it the way he did. would i recommend buying a dog from him..... HELL NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

regardless of what other opinions people may have of him I think he is a hell of a guy. I have several of his hounds and could give you a list of buddies that also have his hounds and they will say the same thing. There will always be "culls" . I recommend him to anyone. I don't have any purebreds from him all of mine are plott/english cross. Get with me ifyou want to talk more

I have seen alot of mikes dogs do great around northern NM. I have a plott female who does great. Mike is a little wary about selling his really good stuff to you unless he knows you hunt hard. I got a plott from him a couple years ago and took it up to bear camp right away. The dog acted homesick wouldn't leave the truck. I took it back to Mike and he let me choose a different one. I think he is a hell of a guy and I will do business with him anyday.

Mike welcomes any phone calls if you will call him I can almost bet you no I know he will know the dog. We have crossed his dogs with some of ours and got some real good dogs if you have any back issues of Full Cry his number is in there I know he is still in the mountains of Colorado busy with cows so just leave him a message

Mike is an interesting guy. That plott female I have from him I was planning on making a cross with her and a black and tan and called him to get his advice. It had been 3 years since I bought her at 18months old all I did was tell him her name and he remembered her right away rattled off who her parents, brothers and sisters were. He has a real passion for his dogs. The only thing about his dogs is they don't have any kind of a handle on them when you buy them. His training method is to start them on coon them bobcat then hogs. He said if they survive the hogs they are ready for bear and cat. So any dog you get from him has seen tons of game but will still need your finishing touch such as getting a handle on them.

Thats right he don't advertise finished dogs. Down here in the south dogs that run hogs usually adapt to bear pretty quick and some don't but hog hunting is big here so you don't have problems with having two packs of dogs. More is always better

He has a dog that was a littermate to the "Slew" aka "lonesome" dog that Greg Anderson got from you. The dog is named apache. I'd like to see a 7 gen. on those pups if you have it Mike, i have some of that blood at my house out of Greg's crosses.

Larry,
That was one of those crosses tha just clicked. I bred my Belle 111 dog to my Magnum dog. Besides Greg's Lonesome dog, there was a dog in Wisc. owned by Mark Becker who was a outsanding beardog named Bullet(extreme speed & Nose)He just died 2 years ago to Blasto. There was one owned by Tom David out of New Mexico that was his lead dog for years. Dean Kitchen owned a female in La. that is a super coldnose hogdog. There was one that went to British Columbia for a lion dog but cant think of the mans name. I had my Ruger dog, who I just sold to Sweden. All in all, a very good cross. I will post a pedegree later. Have to go to work.

The Gumbo dog was owned by Tom David of Summit Guiding & Outfitting, Mike williams owned three of them, Apache, Black Gal & Shania( Black Gal was so gritty he quit hunting her) Maggie is a top traildog owned by Tim Leblanc. Dean Martan owns a gyp, top traildog hogdog. Ruger was a top coldnose gritty dog that could do it all by himself on bear & hog. A lot of these dogs just had the ability to make good dogs look bad Like I said earlier, just a cross that really clicked.
