I am seeing a lot of fox around my place lately, i have a plott gyp i am thinking about putting on them if i can, do you think there as hard to run as bobcats and will a grey fox take a tree if you pressure them?

Grey fox will tree and they run harder than bobcats. Bobcats are tricker and harder to run but greys are tougher. Running both will make better dogs for the other.

Both are hard to catch here in Texas but I ran alot of bobcats and never ran any fox and one day out at a old ranch house the dogs started a cat, I thought and ran it just like a jumped bobcat race and ran it hard and I just thought anytime they would have treed it. 3 hour hard race and treed in a big yucca, as I ran to the dogs it was a grey fox in the top of the yucca plant out of breath and tonge on the ground. The whole time I thought it was a cat. Hell of a race and dogs really pushed it hard to tree. Our cats are the same way also

We have more fox than bobs in this area these days. Running fox is becoming a growing trend in this area as a result. I for one have only treed one. I am a bob hunter. That is my passion. I get a bit disappointed when I look up and see a long tail or a bushy tail. Nothing makes me happier than a bob tail.
