Would deer liver cooked overnight in a crock pot be OK to feed my dogs? I'm worried about giving them protein poisoning by feeding them too much meat.

We always feed bear liver to the dogs raw, don't see why you would have to cook it.

I am not a big fan of liver .We have always pan fried it before giving it to hounds wether deer or bear . However never had a problem with hounds not eating it either way .Not sure why but in Maine for years they use to advise NOT eating Bear liver Particularly women who were pregnant or might become pregnant. For the life of me I can't remember the reasoning behind that.

We feed LOTS of deer liver to the dogs. We've always fed it raw and have never had one problem. Save yourself the time it takes to cook and then clean up. Your not going to hurt the dogs a bit.

Cool, thanks guys. I have a boatload of leftover deer liver that has been collecting in the freezer. Guess we'll see what the dogs think of it.

I may be in the minority here but I don't feed wild meat to my dogs unless I boil it. It doesn't take but a few minutes and then I know I haven't given my dogs worms that may have been in raw meat. I add the warm water to their food in the winter and if there is more meat than you feed in one day put it in a ziplock bag and put it in the fridge. JMO. Good hunting.
