is one breed better than another when training first dog

I have been bear and coyote hunting for about six years always using someone elses pack now i finally want to start buying my own dogs is one breed easier to train for someone who has never trained a hound. and what should i look for in a pup. i live in michigan and want to buy a pup with as much natural ability as possible. thanks for any help you guys can give

I wouldn't worry too much about what breed you get. All breeds are intelligent (or stupid, 8) ) Pick the breed you have an inclination toward and then try to find a strain that is working well on the game you intend to hunt. As long as you're happy with what you have then all is well. The only person a dog has to satisfy is the one that is buying the food.
