Does anyone know of any top bobcat dogs available at stud?

Depending on the type of hunting that you do, contact Perk on here. He has some Fox/Cat hounds that are the real deal.

If you are Snow Hunting then you need to find a Trailing/Tree type Hound. There have been some Cat Hunters from W. VA. on here who seem to have good ones of this type!

I live in Central, PA. Philipsburg, and also run cats. If you find a good male let me know. I have 2 females that do pretty good, but could use a little more nose. Also working with a grandson and granddaughter of Houses Lipper that seem to be doing ok. If possible I think I would go with the Topper again dog if we could get seman shipped

I now realize I never specified what breed I am interested in. I am looking for a Plott bobcat dog, but thanks to those that replied and PM'ed. Still hoping to hear from others.

One of the best plotts that I know of for catching bobcat is a dog called Jet, owned by Jim Collins of Wakefield, Michigan. He only hunts bobcat with him, and cougar when he hunts out west. But, I don't know if he's studding him to outside females or not. Jet's bred probably twenty females or more. I have hunted with Jet in Michigan as well as dogs out of him. If I was looking for a plott male for bobcat I would consider him. But like I said I don't know if he's breeding to any outside females, or just within his own kennel. And the dog is getting older.

There is also a guy named Tim Nowak in Grand Rapids, Michigan that owns a plott dog named Batman which is a good bobcat dog. I've seen him go on bobcat in Michigan and on Cougar in Montana. If I was looking for a plott bobcat dog to breed to I would also consider this dog. He is out of Jim Collins' Jet dog. Both Tim and Jim hunt only bobcat with these dogs, and cougar if they go out west.

Jet has a littermate in Idaho. Also, Jet came from Maine as a finished dog, which would be closer to PA, so a little research might save you some time and money for the same blood (or if Jim does not want to take an outside female).

Yeah, I have never hunted with her but they say good things. And I think Corey and Jess have some young dogs out of her doing real well also. I know they have a pretty good bunch of dogs altogether.

Jet was about a year and a half old when he came from Maine And when Jim got him he was well started but he was far from finished. You are right though - CasB, you could probably find some of that blood a little closer to home. Save some gas money for sure.

When Jim told me what he saw of the dog and what he paid for him, I guess I assumed he was finished. My highschool coach's words are echoing. He had words for those who assume. I wont repeat them, but will say he was right again

I wish I had the brains to post a picture of Jets' daughter (that I had the pleasure of owning.) She is probably the pretiest, most perfectly put together hound I have owned.

The litter was large, at least 7 pups maybe 9? Three of them were Melissa, Clara, Sawyer. Clara is a Gr Ch. and Melissa probably will be. The Dam, Baby Doll is dead. Melissa and Clara are small, deep chested, tight built, extremely quick, athletic and agile. ( Just the way I like 'em )

The top side are the dogs you might find in Maine?

I am not a Plott expert at all, but I know that some breeders have tried to keep them as they were very early on, which was the Plott Cur. I never got to hunt with Jet, but I saw him and I saw some of his pups on coyote. This is a high compliment from my perspective, so dont take it otherwise: Jet looked more cur-like than a lot of good curs I have owned. To me he represents more the way the old time Plotts looked. I have talked to people that have hunted bobcat with him and he is legendary and unexplainable.
