Had a hound that got bred by a border collie. Pups were culled after birth. Will I have to wait for her next cycle or will she come in sooner. i have been told a bitch will come back in sooner in a case like this like wolfs that lose pups. I have seen it in quater horses

She should stay on her regular cycle. Should come back in around 6 months.

Twist back in the 50's I had two walkers [sisters] one came in heat twice a year other one only once a year, I am asking why.

Frog I dont no why for sure that would happen I know the older a female gets they can be longer than every 6 months. Usually after they reach a year old the rule of thumb is 6 months also bigger dogs can be more apt to exceed the 6 month rule also. later, Andy

Waylon:
like they said. usually 6 months---figure 4 months after weaning pups.

some lines are genetically set on only once a year..most do work pretty close to that 6 months cycle But a change in the area of the country sometimes will throw it off.
condition of the hound sometimes changes things too.
