Have you central oregon guys had any luck yet? I spent half a day yesterday cold tracking one and finally treed it down in a nasty hole. It had a ringtail. I guess that's what happens when you start them out coon hunting as pups. I think the old straight cat hunters would probably laugh at me, but I like to hunt whatever when I can. I can usually tell when their running a coon, but this one lived in some rough country. Have you guys ever hunted around Fossil any, I used to work there and its should be some good country. Little bit of drive, but theres some pretty good folks out off Highway 19 that would probably let a guy hunt.

hell no! for you guys on the westside dont waist your time making the drive over here. I have ben roading my dogs alot and i have not had one single strike and about the only exitement i have had is when my dogs stuck thier noses in the air and about a hundred yards down the road a few elk had crossed so i got to get out and remind them that its not a good deal to even look that direction. That pretty much sums up my hunting for the winter!

Whats the deal over there. I know you haven't had the snow but there should be some cats somewhere. Do you guys ever hunt any of the ranches over there where theres not many hunters? Is the population pretty low now?

there are a ton of people here this year as a matter of fact i have seen oh id say close to a dozen other hounders in the woods that ive never met and in the previous 3 years i have only seen one combined and i happened to know em. there are not too many people that will let you hunt thier land and the ranches that are around here arent that big so its kinda pointless. the last fresh snow we had i had to work but when i got home the wife had everything loaded in the truck with some food and a thermous to go and i found four cat tracks and all had ben let out on and then to top it off i saw three other rigs so i had enough and went home. thats how things have ben goin. how bout you guys?

its geting more and more that way. a couple years ago i hunted here and only seen a couple rigs all year then this year its hard to find a road that a rig has not gone down it allready. have you hunted up high at all this year? where do you start geting in the snow at?

I was wondering about that. Wonder how many are in the cascades? Sad thing is, Oregon is gonna be the worst state to deal with it. At least in Idaho their killing a few of them.

they had a article in the local paper about a week or so ago about people finding thier tracks and seeing them this last summer exactly where i found one of those tracks. I was driving home from work the other day and a bioligist was sitting on the side of hwy 97 with all his tracking gear out pointing it to the SE side of paluina where a friend of mine just got through telling me he saw some wolf tracks up there. So i call odfw and ask whats goin on and they tell me that they are tracking deer and i said well you know that the deer have ben gone for awhile now and that the snow was way too deep for them to be up there anyhow. I ask are they tracking wolfs and she got verry defensive and said no,no,no there are none of them around here. I call BULLSHIT i have seen the proof so they can tell me all they want and if something happens to my dogs like those pics that were on here for a short while then there will be absolute hell to pay if i ever see any of them.
