I was hunting cats in southern BC there was snow on the ground . but rained durring the night. cut a track i thought was fresh and the dogs would for sure catch the cat . i have never hunted after a rain in the snow where i usally hunt once snow is on the ground it dont rain . so anyhow i walked the dogs down it they wanted to take it they acted like it was a hot track they trailled it till dark with no cat jumpped had to cut them off and gather them up . obviously the track was not as fresh as i figured. anyone hunt in these conditions if so what is the effect on tracks they look alot fresher then they are i figured that out. does the rain release alot more scent out of the track then if it was frozen ? any info would help. thanks guys

Rosin,
All the experiences I have had with rain in snow is quite opposite. The rain actually washes away the scent. I cannot tell you about B.C. as the humidity, heat, factor are quite different than here.

catman that makes sence it started to rain about an hour after i cut the dogs loose as well as rained the following night . so mayby that was what was happining the rain was slowly washing away the scent on the track so the dogs were having trouble moving it. I know one thing for sure when you hunt in conditions you are not acustom to its a whole other ball game ,and it really threw me and my dogs for a loop .
