If his parents are catdogs, then you might have the genetics for it.. Then again.. they may not reproduce it in their pups..

You cannot tell at 6 months old if a pup is going to make a great cat dog.. Sorry.. It's a waiting game...

I know what I want to see in a pup at that age.. Something gamey, something that learns quick, something that wants to put it's nose on the ground.. And I would choose something that came out of cat dogs vs something that didn't.. Then YOU have to get out and put in the right situations at the right time..

The best bobcat dog I ever met didn't catch a bobcat on his own until he was 2.. He was about 7 when I met him so it was hard to believe.. I've noticed that I hunt the heck out of my pups but don't start expecting cat excellence until they have hit their 2 or 3rd cat season.. Then I can say "Oh Yeah.. Jack is going to be my best bobcat dog" or.. "Dang, he will catch a cat, but isn't the top notch dog I was hoping for"

Good luck..

you might want to start by moving to a new state where it is legal before you get into trouble.

houndcrazy, focus on the older hound you have for now and not worry about a second dog right now.sounds like you have some learning to do before jumping into a bunch of hounds. jmo. later, Andy
