This is definitly going to be an opinion issue.. Really depends on what you're running and "what's your favorite color?" after that.. Find the breeder or line that's doing the job and run with it. I've run Redtick, Bluetick, Walker, Redbone, & Majestic.. on coon, lion & bobcat.. To me the line made more difference then the color.. My favorite color dog is blue.. always liked the Cameron hounds.. how they ran, their inteligence for cats, & how they looked.. but switch the man, the game, or the location and someone would have a totally different preference..

I LIKE THE POCAHONTAS AND CROCKETT BRED PLOTTS BUT I'D LIKE BEAR DOGS TO BE COLDER NOSED THAN MOST OF THE PLOTTS I HAVE HAD. THOUGH I HAVE 2 NOW THAT CAN RIG AND TRAIL A BEAR 10-12 HRS OLD IN DECENT CONDITIONS AND THATS ABOUT ALL I WANT ANYWAY. BUT A GOOD BEAR DOG CAN BE PURPLE IF IT TREES EM I'LL FEED IT.

I think it really depends on what your doing. Different breads have different characteristics. Its sort of like thoroughbred and quarter horse. Its the difference of being on the tracks or on the ranch. Plotts are agressive. Walkers tree good. Black and tans usally have a good mouth. Blue ticks are calm kept dogs. And every dog is different. But for the over all view of a breed thats been my experence. I havent seen any plotts be real good coon dogs but they damn sure put some big game in the trees. We have mostly walkers and i really think there a good over all dog for game.

are hunting group runs mostly walkers and we love them. they hunt hard and run hard they are running walkers we catch alot of yotes and we dont have any problem with them but its what you were raised around that makes you like the dog and what you like in a dog.
