On Monday night we lost a fellow Houndsmen and a great friend Sylvester Miller. He was roading his dogs on a levee in the Stockton area when for still unknown reasons he went off into the San Joaquin River. Sylvester was an avid Coon and Bear hunter and loved his Plott hounds. He competed in Coon hunts in the Sacramento area. He was 31 years old had a wife and five kids. His family just found out today that the life insurance policy they thought he had is no good. Now on top of the loss of thier Husband and Father they now have to deal with coming up with the money for his services. If anyone is able to help his family out in any way please contact our great friend Paul Cobb at 530-844-4886. He is working to set up an account and helping his family set up his services.
Sylvester I will miss you my friend. You had an amazing way of lighting up the woods. Keep them plotts running up there and try and save a few bears for us. Till the next time we hunt together. Chris

We will have a fund raiser for this family at the field trial, and will challenge all the other clubs in the state to match it !

Thank you Dale and thank you all for what you have done to help my friends family.
I would like to talk on a later date about setting up some type of a memorial hunt or trail to help his kids with some of the things they will need later in life. If any of the clubs would be willing to help me with this please let me know. Thanks Chris.

I want to pass on a very big thank you from Sylvester's wife to all of you for your help and kind words. I talked with her for some time at his service and she was very moved by all the suport of his fellow Houndsmen. I also talked with her about keeping his kids moving on the right track and allowing them the chance to keep hunting and having hounds in there life. I have offered to take them out as much as I can and I hope if any of you know his family and live in the area you can do the same. I will be hunting in the Galt hunt next weekend and hope to get the ball rolling in setting up some type of a memorial hunt to help his family in the years to come. If anyone has any ideas on this please contact me. Thanks Chris
