I was wondering if anybody can tell me a little about the striker breed cur dogs. My 9 year old son got one and that little girl is surprising me on his grandmas house cat. He better be careful or his nana is gonna tan his hide for him. But with dad encouraging him i think it is funny. And he lets keep going. But that pup for 12 weeks old sure can bay like no other i have seen at that age. And i was wondering if people used them for bear dogs or just mainly varments? Her mind is in the right place but i was wondering if this dog might be to much for him and it might have to be dads dog :D ? But with him it might be better off to fight a bear by hand instead of dealing with him if i had to take his dog.

Besides this kid has add and adhd and was a handfull until he got this pup now he is a different kid that i really enjoy being around not saying i was not before but there was times dad had to get away for a while. Now the kid goes everywhere he is now my permanent hunting buddy. Now he needs a job to buy dog food and help with gas :D

Anyway if there is anyone with info on this breed please let me know.

Lippy-I'm no expert but thats what i use now for bear in the east. They seem to be able to have a real good handle put on them. Hunt close to medium and I had good luck with them. BUT I have nothing or done nothing to judge them against.

These dogs have a lot of natural ability. They work well on bear, as well as coon. Some are also used to hunt cats. Who did you get your pup from? They tend to be a well minded dog that can make a good pet as well as a hunting dog. Depending on what your pup came from he may be bred with anywhere from a cold nosed to a hot nose. They are a very athletic dog, built for speed. Also extremely gamey. They are not afraid to go in and pull some wool.

ED-Its a line in the Kemmers. When you hear "Striker" Darrel Frys name gose right along with it. I believe he's a goverment hunter in NV. He uses curs all down or off the Stiker dog.

Lippy- Who bred the dog and who are the parents? Best of luck with her, they are some driven little dogs that live to please. I've had a few that were the real deal.

Take care.
