What time of night is it best to hunt coon. I have gone out right at dark and then I have waited for a few hours.

usually right after dark is good, sometimes morning hunting is good. last saturday I started hunting around 4:00 am hunted till sun up didnt get any thing going. then around 8:00 am got a strike, ran it, caught it on the ground and the hunting stayed good till around noon. so go figure. but i usually hunt in the evening when that is slow i switch to mornings.

Hey CJ I didnt know there was coon in Idaho. My wife is from up by Orifino and I hunted with a good friend of mine in from around there. I only heard him mention a coon when he was farther east. Ill trade ya some of our coon for some of yur lions man I wish we had more here to run. But then again I am glad that there arent to many here.

As for coon here I go out about a half hour before dark and hunt till I cant see stait. But most nites I usually turn in about midnite. Never had much luck running in early mornin.



Keep the light charged and the coffee on....

I'm a day hunter,fairly good success doing it that way. One time cought a coon at night but it was in the hills.As for the swamp we day hunt only.
