I know there has been lots of ?s about garmin on here so I hope I havent missed this question if its been talked about.. I have had my garmin for about 1.5 yrs and have heard that using marine band radios will have bad affect on batteries etc. I was wondering what a safe distance is to operate a garmin and a radio? If anyone has experiance with this it would be greatly appreciated.

From what i know the 65 watt radio in my truck will burn a Garmin up in a hurray so we use a handheld while using the garmin.The 5 watts of a handheld will not hurt it.

There are some threads on this subject in the general forum. Seems to be some good info in there if you read through it...
