Dog eats rocks

I got a dog who eats rocks.Most the rocks don't go through so he pukes them back up.Anyone have any idea what might cause a dog to do this ? Could it be some kind of deficiency in his diet or just a stupid dog ?

It could be a couple things, First is PICA its when dogs or people just eat weird things. This is usually related to anexity or stress. I have hear some people say this can be caused by a mineral deficency but I personally have not seen that. I would have the dog vet checked. Biggest risk of this behavior is a bowel obstruction that could require surgery to correct. Signs and symptoms are vomitting, diaherria,bloating and blood in stool. Good luck
