I have been on the colorado fish and game website for the past 30 minutes and can't find out where the pursuit seasons are listed for coon, bobcat and lion. I was able to find the harvest season though..So if anyone could let me know when the pursuit seasons are for colorado i would greatly appricate it. Thanks Daniel

We do have different regs for coon on private property that aren't published though.

You have to look at the state statutes. You can run Coon and Coyotes year round except for the month of June and a week or two in July. You need a permit for a light at night if you are on public land. If on private land you don't need the permit.

Where do you find the state statutes for Colorado? Do you have to go to the courthouse or can you find that online?

I will print that off and then I'm good to go!

that's the best news I have heard all day!

Thanks guys

Dont even think about pursuing lion, bobcat or bear under the guise of coon or coyote.
You will get burnt and so will the rest of us. The website is the Gov site.
I think it is co.state.gov. Look for CRS - Colorado Revised Statutes. Watch yourself as the mountain muffins, granola crunchers, tree huggers and spandex freeks sure are...

I am thinking of some private land I can hunt on the river for coon when other seasons aren't on.

Liontracker you are right we must play by the rules or the anti's win.

To be clear, you can "train" dogs on coons and coyotes. The training of dogs on raccoons is permitted except from May 1 through June 30 of each calendar year (not year round). You CANNOT "take" coons out of season. The coyote training period is a little dumb (The training of dogs on coyotes is permitted except from April 16 through July 15 of each calendar year.), as the season is open year-around.

Also, you should be aware that technically it is illegal to "catch" any wildlife with a dog.
Wildife Commission regulation #004,A,2:
"2. Dogs
a. Use of dogs in the taking of wildlife is prohibited except as authorized in Commission Regulations. (See also: ยง33-4-101.3, C.R.S.)
1. Dogs may be used to hunt or take mountain lion, small game, waterfowl, and furbearers, only as an aid to pursue, bring to bay, retrieve, flush or point, but not otherwise. Further, dogs shall not be used to hunt or take cottontail rabbits, snowshoe hares, and tree squirrels where a regular deer, elk, pronghorn or moose season is in progress."

Here is a link to the regulations page (all of them). http://wildlife.state.co.us/RulesRegs/Regulations/

There is also a link to the Colorado Revised Statutes to the left on the same page, under "helpful links". All wildlife law is under Title 33.

There are NOT different regulations for coon on private property, with the exception of night hunting not requiring a permit. The seasons are the same! There are some exceptions for wildlife causing damage, allowing landowners to kill them.

Hope this helps,
Travis
