Sellin dogs.....tricky deal.

Well, im starting this post to just get some general "opinions" on the deal not to start a "pissin match". Maybe this will keep someone out of a bad deal in the future.
(This comes from the deal between Tony and Wade and the Rocky dog) I have talked to both guys and i don't believe either one is to blame, just two sides, and two different ways at lookin at a situation. Tony was sellin the dog as is with a trial in Nevada.... Wade bought the dog with the thought the dog was in better shape and could help out his pack of young dogs. "Just a bad deal on both ends as it turns out"
Here is my "opinion" on sellin a dog. If i sale a dog they are guaranteed to eat and poop, thats it, once they leave my yard. I don't know what kinda hunter you are or how you hunt or it your beat your dogs or have fighting dogs or....... It's not that hard to screw up a dog and harder to make a good one. Otherwise people wouldn't be looking for that "steal of a deal". Anyone is more then welcome and i would recommend them hunting with the dog on more then one occassion. I would also recommend getting a vet check prior to buying a dog.
There are just too many variables out there for both parties involved. And everyone has different things that they are expecting. Be careful and take your time when you are looking at buying a dog. It will save alot of bad feelings and money lost.
These comments are not intended for Tony or Wade. Just wanted to open peoples eyes on the subject.
Take care, Jason

there is not doubt that there are different strokes for different folks if you catch my drift. I agree with jason here all the way. If you are buying a pup you try and make sure that the parents are proven to put game up dont ya? and if you are goin to go buy a finished dog per say and spend all that money then I would think it would be a no brainer to go hunt with that dog as much as you can before buying it. I personally dont have the kind of money to take the chance on goin site unseen so i would make time to go check it out but thats just me. I dont know the whole situation here and i am just giving my two cents on what i think. So going back to different strokes for different folks, one mans cull can be another mans star and visa versa. So in my opinion I would say to invest the little bit of extra money in goin to see the dog work and if you like the dog then great and if not then you aren't out of alot more money and frustration and back at square one. Just one pups opinion though.
This is not directed at the two gentlemen here just as a whole

I totaly argee. I get the biggest laugh out of the classified on here. I know people are just wanting to sell dogs but the crap is so deep somtimes a grown man would drown. A litter of pups that still have a tit in their mouth being garanteed to be the coldest noesed, fastest trailen, best tree'in bear, cat, coon and rhino dog on the earth and gritty enough to chew the balls off a gut shot girzzley

. Well at least it's good reading. Lance

I would never buy a finished dog that I didnt see in the woods. This is how things get ugly. People buy dogs that they have no clue as to their ability. Then they wanna blame the guy they bought them from. The worst is when people buy dogs they have never even seen in person. Rarely have these things worked out for people. I dont blame the seller. I dont blame the dog. I blame the buyer. Always see the dog first. Always see the dog work. Otherwise people, good people can get their name dragged through the mud.

I've sold a couple of finished hounds site unseen to people who needed a finish dog pretty bad. First off I didn't want to sell those dogs and gave both those guys a chance to return them if they weren't happy with the hound. Truth is I doubt that I could have bought either of those dogs back for double the price that I gave them up for, and that's why I stay away from dog peddling.........

Dog deals? Best for buyer and seller to deal with each other, just way to many things that go or can go wrong I've seen it latley a few times and always involved the middle men or somebody trying to helpout then you got a mess. I also believe if you advertise something that isn't what it is seller should do the right thing and buy dog back, buying dog on tree isn't always a option and take a chance. jmo, later.

i have never understood how it has come to pass....that it is the buyers fault if he buys a dog without trying, based upon the add describing the dog as outstanding this or that, and he gets it home to find out its a big piece of sh!t.
maybe im old school, but that seems to be the sellers fault for lying about the dog.
i guess i see both sides, but it sure would be easier if people just told the truth.
ps...jmo...im not commenting on the deal mentioned above cause i dont know anything about it.

Rusty, you are right. It aint the buyers fault, its the sellers fault.

The only place to buy or sell a dog is in the woods after the buyer is satisfied he is getting what he wants. A dog that you love I might not like.

If you are willing to sell a dog site unseen or never hunted by buyer than you are knowingly putting your reputation on the line as well.
