Never heard of that before. Would you smoke them to try and eliminate scent? If so from what I've read and done on my own line is to dye and wax once a year before the season starts. Seems to work fine, but I'm always up to learn something new. Later Kiel

I don't think that smoking traps is a good thing, it would leave to much scent on the traps, causing the animal to dig, the Idea behind dyeing and waxing them is to help with rust and get rid of any scent that may be on the trap.

i agree with attic rat, keep as much sent off of the trap as possible. Dye and wax the traps in the spring and let them dry out side, after they dry store them in a plastic tote or a fiber drum and handle them with gloves.
