i have six foot chainlink kennels and got a dog thatchews the bottom till she undid the chain link weave and got out so i burryed the kennel 6in she started climbing\jumping it i put a roof on it so she dug out i dont have the cash for a yard shock system right know so i chained her up she got off the chain i dont know how i put her back on and she jumped the property fence and hung herself the collor pulled over her ears or i wouldnt have to worry about it anybodyhave a wild dog that they broke of getting out and how did you do it.... i have also left her at the truck in my owens dog box due to sore feet and she got the box open and showed up on the trail i cant keep her in

Real simple.
15 mile Red Snapper cattle elec fencer. Run a line around the bottom on 6" long insulators 4" off the ground, then connect the line by running straight up one corner and then around the whole top. Stops diggers and climbers pronto all for under $100. (make sure you run it to the door so its a continuous barrier)

A guy could make a full enclosure with just posts and elec fencing if you did this from top to bottom with 6" gaps for under $100.

I had a dog like that. He would break everything and jump or dig everything. He went away. Wasn't worth the hassel of messing with him. It sure is peaceful around here now.

i just cant see culling that dog because in the feild he is a great dog and is only going to get better he minds well and easy to handel he just wont stay in the kennel\ yard all i need is for him to kill one of the neibors house cats might have to cull if the electric fence dosnt work

I've had two like that in my lifetime. A dog with that kind of drive shouldn't be culled. Even if you can't contain him, he's worth a try for someone else.

When I was a child, we had a bloodhound like that. First he dug out, so we put a cement floor in. Then he climbed out, so we put a roof on. Then he learned to open the latch, so we had to chain the door to his kennel closed. He could chew through anything you tied him with. He could slip his collar. He could get through chain link. Eventually my parents gave him to the NY state police and he had a long career finding lost children and the like. The trooper who handled him just took him everywhere--Hector rode shotgun in the patrol car.

The other one was my first coonhound, a redbone from a shelter. He dug under the fence, so we buried about a foot of fence bent inward around the fenced yard. He climbed the fence, so we bent another foot of fence leaning inward to make it hard to climb. He dug under the gate. He chewed through tie-outs made of seatbelt material. He chewed through plastic-coated metal tie-out cable. He chewed through heavy leather leads. He climbed trees to get out. He slipped multiple collars and every harness design we could find. Eventually we decided that we would keep him with us all the time. He did occasionally take himself hunting anyway when there was something outside the fence he needed to hunt badly--like a bear. But he was a helluva coondog and could rig from a sound sleep in the car just on the scent coming in through the ventilation system. The main trick to keeping him in was to give him something to do inside the fence that was more interesting than what was going on outside the fence--a bone to chew on, a coonhide, a kid to play with, or whatever. Also, he had to be hunted a lot or he was going to find himself a coon whether anyone else wanted to hunt with him or not.

emily i have found that if i run him everyday he is less likely to get out i also found out the naibors had dogs in heat im going to give him a while and see and will cut him to see if that helps it is tough to spend every min with him cause of work gone 16 hrs a day for 5 days then i have five off to spend with him

I like dogs like that,thier smart,they obviously think alot.I think they make good bobcat dogs.JMO

Electric fence worked for me. I have a walker hound who also likes to do whatever he is not suppose to. We have a 6 ft brick wall around our yard and he jumps up and over that easily...i put ceramic insulators about 6 inches from the top (so it still looks good from the outside) and ran the electric fence around the entire wall. one or two shocks from that and he doesnt go anywhere near wire anymore even if it's not connected to anything. I put wire around my smaller plants to keep him from messing with them.

he did figure out how to go under the wire and hit the latch on the gate to get out, but that was easily fixed by putting some wire on the latch.

Lining the inside of the kennel with melon size rocks worked for me. They dig they fall on them

i put up some hot wires and my meat head hasnt managed to get out yet the is a large hole in the center of the kennel that i have a bad feeling about there is a long way to dig out but younever know that that dog is going to do to get out

My plott hound did the same thing where he'd pull the wire up and slipout so i just wired hog panneling on the sides and it worked like a charm

i am curently building a kennel out of cattle panels they are 52 in high with 4x6 squeres made out of 1\4 in stock they are 16 foot long and i doubled them to get 104in high they are sub devided giving me 4 8x8 kenels i placed a roof over it and concret under if they get out of this one im gonna be mad

I have a dog that has been able to escape from everything. I just put the shock collar on her and wait for her to try to escape and then shock her. She has been really smart ever since she was a pup. But it worked.
