I"m not a good source on this but I would probalby try the Walk with Wick books. I've heard good things about it, and Have a copy that Seamed like it was pretty thourough..

But Personally I've never read it cover to cover. Just never kept my attention... But then again.. I'm pretty thick headed and seam to waste my time doing it the wrong way until I figure it out.!!!

another good book

Is Vickie Lamb's The Dynamics of Hound Training

She is up on the latest modern dog-training techniques for other breeds, and generally has a "kinder, gentler" approach than some of the old timers.

The Walk With Wick books are a great source of information. I like volume 1 quite a bit better myself. Volume 2 seemed like a lot of repition and maybe it is just me but John Wick seemed to come off a little mean in the second book, but after dealing with so many half-wits, he has a right to be. Both books are filled with good information and letters that people had written to John Wick over the years and his responses to them.

There is no Dynamical of Hound Training Volume II. However, she has written another book, The Ultimate Hunting Dog Reference Book

http://www.globepequot.com/globepequot/ ... gory_code=

It covers all hunting breeds, not just hounds

Meet Mr. Grizzly by Montague Stevens is a book that provides good insight into how Montague used positive reinforcement to train his dogs, as opposed to beating the hounds to get them to do what u want, which according to him was the protocal in the days of yonder.
