color variations of Black and Tans

I have a full blooded male black and tan, that came out brown and tan. has all the right markings of a B & T just instead of the black he is brown. Has anyone else ever seen this? Is it that common? I will try and post pics. when I can. any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Fairly common in some strains it is just a mutant gene.

there's a guy back east breeding for the chocolate or brown color.

Have also heard of a guy out here that was breeding for this, not sure if they can be UKC registered or not...

A guy down south of me had two litters and 3 pups came out all tan with just balck down the spine
