I was wondering who all had full nance bred walkers out here in the west. I know of samspon, topper again and millie but i was wondering who else had some of that caliber. I realize that there are many dogs out there that are off spring of the three dogs i listed. So i am inquiring about the other dogs that are maybe litter mates to the three listed or perferably have no connection to those three. Thanks Daniel.

P.S.
Only curious about dogs that are hunted out west on bobs and lions.

Daniel, I have a few full nance dogs here at my place. They all are straight from topper, sampson, millie. Tom Doman has a full nance dog at his place that is out of lester nances grandsons stuff. I think there are some full nance dogs up in the northern coast area also.

I wouldn't say I am a wealth of knowledge about them I have some.To get the whole story of the foundation of the Treeing Walker Coonhound breed of which the Nance dogs were the first ever registered it would be good to a get a copy of Lester Nance's great book ( History of the Treeing Walker). Trent Gordon who is Lester's grandson is on this forum and has some copys of this great book left. This is not just a book for walker lovers it is a great read about tree hound history in the US.

To get a real path of how the Nance hounds started from humble grade roots and rose to the top of the tree dog world is a long trip. and then to follow them west as they made up parts of some of the greatest big game packs ever is even more interesting to me. To know this line headed by Lester's famous Little Topper the only 2 time world champion bobcat dog(back when they had those competitions) made his way to Wyoming and another re-birth of sorts into the big game world happended with Bob Morosok. Famous packs like those of Warner Glenn, Al Lynn, Milt Holt, Leon Cox and many of the great what we call southern Utah dogs trace to crosses on the Nance cold nosed strain of treeing walker. funny but today they still have a strong foot hold in Southern, Utah and it is here that Sampson and Topper Again really started a ball of fire rolling again. Well Known hunters today like Leon Cox,Jeff Allen, Steve Biggerstaff, Andy Jensen, and many more including many, many State and US Wildlife Professional hunters who stay under the radar rely on this strain either in registered form or in grade cross form to accomplish their work.

Here is a good start with Treeing Walker History showing how they got their humble start from and honest hard working group of farmers in the heartland of America.
