Tell some of your buddies you taking along a bunch of cool chicks on your next outing. Say you gonna be meeting them in the woods at a certain place. That should get their attention !! They would probably be more than eager to go along then.
Failing that hogtie them and bundle them in your pickup and take them along that way.
Dont feel dispondent there not many kids prepared to go along with us on our hound hunts here either. My son is twelve now and his been in on 3 leopard kills and I am so appreciative that he enjoys hunting and the outdoors. He hunts caracal , jackal with the hounds regularly and does a lot of predator calling with me as well.Generally hound hunting is to tough and demanding for the average kid they just can't hack it !!
" He who hesitates is lost " - Dont wait for the lost souls, get on with it. Your most reliable hunting companions will always be your hounds !!

I can tell you this, I grew up hunting with all my buddies and our hounds...we loved it.
Seems like now kids would much rather play X box...Not trudge to the top on a canyon in waist deep snow with a cull hoping to cut a track! We caught some game but we worked our A$$ off every outing. Take some special kids so, sorry your buddies aren't into it but keep it up my man!
Sheesh, the whole "kids nowadays" stuff makes me feel old and I'm only 28!!
There are some solid kids out there and hopefully we are all raising up a handful more.

Both my daughters that are 9 and 12 and my wife like to go hunt the hounds with me. The My oldest daughter is set on getting a cat this next winter. It will be the first year for big game hunting for her, and she doesn't want a deer or elk she wants a cat! Cant complain about that.

Funny you should say that, I've found it's really hard for young guys to get into hounds.
I am a reasonably young guy at 22 and have no hunting experience in my life. Zip. But at 22 I've moved to less congested north california and am very interested in learning the art of hunting with hounds. I am putting money aside for a bluetick bitch from crazy cascade in hopes of having a dog the can learn and grow with me.
But my point being is it's a hard unaccessible sport to break into. I've spent a lot of time on the internet looking for resources, where to go, etc, and have had little success.
It seems like it's something that unless you already know people in the game then it's hard to find it. Especially after moving to a new area and not knowing anyone.

Where I am at, there is alot of younger people hound hunting. It seems when we lost our right to hunt bear and cat most of the "old timers" didnt want to waste there time hunting just coons, but the younger people just wanted to stay out in the woods and we continued to hunt coons. In fact in our hound club it seems that its mostly made up of people in their 20-40s, families, singles and yes even alot of women. But you are right-it seems you have to know someone to get into the sport, which can be frustrating. All you can do is ask around, or look up hound clubs on the internet is my advice. Good luck.

Like elkhuntress said, get involved with a local hound club and you'd be surprised.

I didnt get to go to NW trials last year, but I did go to Rockport for the banquet this year, and helped cecily out. Our club is having a water race weekend of july 10th & 11, anyone coming from your club?
