How many of you, use supplements for your hounds?

Vitamins, etc… and what do you use?

I give all my dogs Joint Supplements and Fish Oil (skin & coat) daily. I notice a big difference, even while feeding a high quality food.

I give them the people kind. The big giant bottles you can get at Sam's Club (Wal-Mart). They have so many varietys. I usually just get the plain fish oil (cheap). But they have the Cod Liver Oil and Fish Oil + Omega, ect. My dogs actually like the capsules. Aspen is very picky about pills/vitamins, and she usually eats her fish oil off the food first.

What type of fish oil’s are you using? I know a lot of feed stores sell Salmon oil for dogs, but it’s not cheap and does not come in a sizable enough containers to go very far $10.00 a pint. Has any one used flax seed oil as a supplement? It is not used for extra fat in your dog’s diet but for skin and coat as well as other benefits, I have just started using it $25.00 a gallon but it goes a long way at two tea spoons or 6ML per dog per day added to their feed, we will see if I gain anything by using it. Although I use a quality dog feed I am always looking for something to add to it that the dogs are lacking, it must be economical as well or the cost will over ride the benefit. I know that others have weighed in on this topic, so for though that have, what benefits have you gained from adding supplements to your dogs feed?
