My pics would be Marshall or Johnson. I've got half a dozen Johnson collars that are going on 25 years old, still as good as they were new.

West coast makes a good collar to. get ahold of some houndsmen around you (most know Gary) and they should be able to give you a # for him.

I have used about all of the collars on the market and L@L has a collar on the market that is hard to beat It is super light ,has flashing led lights ,replaceable antena replaceable battery and a 1000 hour batery on a 1/2 AA batery perrty hard to beat and the signal is great I hunt on the coast of Oregon and can pick up the collar as good as the rest i will buy nothing elts now. Its also small enough where i can put my shock collar on the tracking collar and run the garman as well

Wildlife,Johnson,or West coast for sures.I will say tho, one time I put a wild life magnet in my WCT collar and it was to strong and messed up the switch in side the collar. Now no matter what magnet I use, when I pull it I have to beat the collar on a tree or a rock to get it to start beeping

For the money QUICK TRACK makes the best collar that I've found. Johnson works pretty good as well.

Why you ask, Marshall was started to track falcons and they have branched out from there. They have 14 mile collar thats 1/3 of the weight of the typical 16000 hr collar.Plus they know come with blinking led light that can be seen for about 3 miles.
Just go to marshallradio.com and check them out yourself.
I wouldn't put anything but the best on a dog, There to valuable

Many guys will tell you how great the Johnsons collars and others and like Dean said he has been using the same collar for many years. The problem I found with that is I never trusted them after so many years and found myself putting those collars on my not so favorite dogs.
You never know when the thing is going to die.
The marshall has a better signal (Longer range)
takes AA batteries ( that can be found anywhere)
has a low battery indicater ( that will last for 3+ days)
has a dog down signal
Smaller and lighter and more durable.
replacable antenas.
standard tree switch
You only need one magnet to turn all of them on and off with a light that tells you they are on and working.
And all the power max collars ( the newer ones) can be programed to any freg. without any charge.
You can also unscrew them on the collar they come on and screw them onto your gps collars or you e collars.

Ok men, you have me sold on the Marshall. What difference does frequency make? Why do you set them at different settings? I'm from Oregon, what should I get for frequency? And where is the best place to buy a new set up?
