Just wondering what you all thought of this area for cat hunting. Drove around that country today and looked good.

Just wanted to make things clear....I am not asking for your guys hunting areas or anything like that just curious what you think of the area and the towns in general. Do you like the area. What do you think of the locals..are they friendly or grumpy lol. I personally like the challengen of exploring a new area and finding new holey holes and such. Looking forward to it. Although i hear there are a lot of rattle snakes in that country...not too happy about that lol. might have to buy some snake bite kits for pursuit season.

I'm envious of your move. That area is one of my favorite spots. Caught these two last year in that area. The big one was 38#.

Good luck up there. It is a large area and has little pressure. I'm sure you'll figure out where the cats are. Maybe we'll see you up there one day.

i lived in johnday while growing up famly has live in grant county since the 20s most of the older famlies (rancher type) will be kind of standoffish at first but will worm up to you after a while if your there kind of people most hound people should not have a problem with being the right kind. keep dogs out of the valley floor by the river in the summer thats were the rattle bugs live not that many in the hills. do some looking around fox valley and long creek country for cats try magoon lake until the snow gets to deep then follow the deer down to the valleys thats what we did 20 years ago but long tails were legal and bobs paid the gas good luck up there i would move back in a heart beet if there was any work that paid worth a shit . dont forget to go stealhead fishing Richard

Daniel, Welcome to Grant County.
Been after these cats for 20 years. Long Creek has 3 trappers & 2 houndsmen. Fox has 2 houndsmen. Monument has 4 houndsmen. Dont know how many is in the rest of the county.
But still a good place to live
