do you find that your best beardogs are the ones that really want to eat the bear meat after the kill? it seems that way in my pack.

it seems like with my dogs it's the ones that have the most heart, we don't kill very many bears, but the last one we killed my ratchet dogs wanted it the most, but he isn't very gritty, he would rather face bark one then bite him, but he sure love the bear meat.

None of mine will eat it straight off the bear. I've never owned one that would eat the liver either. Had a few that will lick the blood off it, thats about it. We don't kill many bear though either. Maybe it's something they eventually get used to. I've seen other peoples dogs eat the liver and/or pieces straight off the bear, but every one I can remember was a really skinny or possessive dog, and deffinately no better than any of my dogs. Mine know the second they get home they get a big bowl of food, and I'll cook the bear meat for them.

I have seen very few dogs actually eat the bear meat. By us when we throw out the remains coyotes wont touch it either.

If your dogs wont eat it try boiling it first, half or 1lb chunks, they likely will then.
You could even dump some taco seasoning in the water to give it a bit of flavour/appealing scent.
I am sure most would rather feed for free when possible and if that helps you then good.
That being said, nobody likes packing out a stinky ditch pig but about 1 out of 20 trees by a road

When we harvest a bear we always cook up the heart and liver while we're skinning it and feed it to the dogs first thing. They all love it. We also give the dogs the rendered down fat and cook up all the extra trimming and add it to their dogs food until it's all gone. All the rest gets cut up into steaks, roasts, hamburger and ribs, and thin slices for jerky, yum yum :0)
